Dorian saw her when he went to the theater, he wanted to leave immediately because the theater was in a bad condition, but he saw her playing Rameo and Juliet, and yet he stayed when the orchestra started to play, he didn't like it, but he stayed when the actress came on stage, he saw her and fell in love .

Dorian said that this actress is very beautiful and the first time he saw her he was shocked by her beauty. Henry then asked when they met. Dorian told how they met after the third play he attended, but the conductor of the orchestra interrupted them to talk, but both Dorian and Sybil Vane just looked at each other and that was it. After that, Dorian went to all the plays and saw him in all the characters. Then henry said that this is why they started spending less time together, but henry already knew that Dorian had started an affair. At the end of the conversation they discussed women and then Dorian said how he was asking Henry and Basil to come to the show to see him for themselves.

When Campbell insists he won’t help, Dorian blackmails him by threatening to reveal a secret that would ruin him. With no other choice, Campbell agrees and sends a servant to his home for the tools he needs. Dorian then goes upstairs to cover the painting and notices that one of the hands in the portrait is stained red, as though the canvas had sweated blood. Campbell works until evening, then leaves. When Dorian returns to the room, the body is gone, and the smell of nitric acid fills the air.

Dorian and Campbell used to be very close friends, but now they are distant. Dorian’s negative influence has affected his friendships, and he is willing to use and manipulate old friends like Campbell for his own purposes, showing how self-centered he has become.

But instead of the hare, the shot hits a man. The man, who was shot in the chest, dies instantly. As they head back to the house, Dorian tells Lord Henry that he feels this is a bad omen. Lord Henry brushes it off, saying that destiny is either too wise or too cruel to send us omens.

To lighten the mood, Lord Henry teases Dorian about his relationship with the duchess. Dorian tells him there is no scandal and sadly says, I wish I could love. He explains that he is so focused on himself and his own personality that he can't love anyone else. He even thinks about escaping on a yacht to be safe. When they find the duchess, Dorian leaves Lord Henry to talk to her and goes to his room. The head keeper comes to see Dorian and tells him about the man who was shot. Dorian assumes the man was a servant and offers to take care of his family. The keeper says they don’t know who the man was yet. Once Dorian learns that the man was an unknown sailor, he insists on seeing the body. He rides to a farm where the body is kept and realizes it is James Vane’s. Dorian returns home with tears in his eyes, feeling relieved and safe.

Dorian feels he cannot love anyone because he is too focused on himself. He feels lonely and sad because he cannot connect with others emotionally, even though he wishes he could love. This shows how his selfishness and obsession with beauty have isolated him from real relationships.
