         <title>Arriving late to Class</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>o &nbsp; If a student arrives late to class with a pass from another teacher or administration, they will first grab any assignment or handout that is waiting for them at the collection table, then place the pass on Mrs. M’s desk before sitting in their own desk and beginning their work for the day.</div><div>o &nbsp; If a student arrives late and does not have a pass, they will go straight to the collection table and then their desk.</div><div>o &nbsp; If the class is still working on bell work when the late student arrives, they too will work on bell work. However, if the student arrives later and bell work has already been completed by the class the late student will do the bell work as homework.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>o &nbsp; Students are allowed to use their phones and music when given permission by the teacher.&nbsp;</div><div>o&nbsp; &nbsp;Music is allowed to be played through headphone during reading time and bell work.&nbsp;</div><div>o &nbsp; When Mrs. M gives permission to use cell phones for music, they are expected to only use their devices for music. If they use their devices for anything else they will lose their privilege towards cell phones and music for the rest of the semester.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>o &nbsp; During reading time students are allowed to spread out throughout the classroom or can stay in their seat to read.&nbsp;</div><div>o &nbsp; Listening to music is permitted</div><div>o &nbsp; If a student has nothing to read/ has finished their novel. They are expected to read something from Mrs. M’s classroom library OR if a student knows exactly what book they want from the school library they are allowed to go down to grab it and bring it back to class.&nbsp;</div><div>o&nbsp; Any students that:</div><div>Abuses their privilege of going to the library will lose that privilege for the rest of the semester.&nbsp;</div><div>Mistreats Mrs. M’s books will be expected to use their reading time reading only their own books brought into class or from the classroom textbooks.&nbsp;</div><div>o &nbsp; Any students that wish to take one of Mrs. M’s books outside of the classroom is expected to check the book out on the sign out sheet next to the bookshelf and then let Mrs. M know before leaving class.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <title>Tardies</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>o &nbsp; The tardies apply to 1<sup>st</sup>,2<sup>nd</sup>,3<sup>rd</sup>, and 4<sup>th</sup> 8-weeks of the school year&nbsp;</div><div>So, if a student was tardy once in the 2<sup>nd</sup> 8 week of school they will not receive a verbal warning if they were tardy again for the 3<sup>rd</sup> 8 week of school.&nbsp;</div><div>o &nbsp; A student is considered tardy if they arrive to class between after the bell rings and 7 minutes into class, anything over that will be considered the student being absent for a part of class and the students’ parents will be notified by the office.&nbsp;</div><div>o &nbsp; First tardy: things happen! Mrs. M understands that. The first tardy is considered a nonverbal/nonwritten warning for the student.</div><div>o &nbsp; Second tardy: the student will receive a verbal warning.</div><div>o &nbsp; Third tardy: the student will receive a written warning&nbsp;</div><div>o &nbsp; Fourth tardy: the student’s parents will be notified</div><div>o &nbsp; Fifth tardy: the student will either stay after school with Mrs. M or attend detention.&nbsp;</div><div>o &nbsp; If a student was tardy because of something outside of their control they are encouraged to discuss it with Mrs. M after class or school.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <title>Returning to Class after an Absence</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>At the collection table there is a crate with folders that are labeled with the dates of the previous and current class school weeks. Students that were absent for any extend length of time is to go to this crate and pull out the folder(s) from the date(s) the student missed. Inside will be a copy of each day of the weeks white board objectives and class overview, copies of the class handouts, and assignments. The student will put out the paperwork that they need. If there is one copy left of a handout or assignment the student is to go to Mrs. M and let her know so she can make copies for other students. If a student is needing help with the coursework that they need to remake they are welcomed to stay after school until 4:pm every day. Any other questions or concerns a student has been encouraged to come talk to Mrs. M during bell work/the minute before passing period.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>o &nbsp; Students will be given clear objectives that highlights the standards they are to demonstrate being proficient in and are given a rubric to aid them in understanding what is expected of them and what criteria they will be graded on.&nbsp;</div><div>o &nbsp; Students will be given a diagnostic assessment at the beginning of the year so that I can understand at what ability level my students are on. This diagnostic assessment is graded based on participation.&nbsp;</div><div>Students will be given formative assessments throughout the school year to help guide them in their course work and prepare them for the summative assessment.&nbsp;</div><div>Students will be given a summative assessment in the form of written essays that the students are expected to write and exams over course material we learned.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>o &nbsp; Students are given three late work passes at the beginning of each semester (6 for the total school year.) When a student is going to be late turning in an assignment the passes can be turned in to allot them extra time (1 pass = 1 extra day to work on assignment)&nbsp;</div><div>o &nbsp; If a student is expected to turn in an assignment on Friday and needs to use a pass they will not be expected to turn in the assignment until the following Monday. (All essays throughout the semester are due on Fridays.)</div><div>o &nbsp; If a student has no more late work passes to use, then a percentage of the assignment’s grade will be docked.&nbsp;</div><div>·&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;1 day late: 5% deduction</div><div>·&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;2 days late: 10% deduction</div><div>·&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;3 days late: 15% deduction</div><div>·&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;4 days late: 20% deduction</div><div>·&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;5 days late 25% deduction&nbsp;</div><div>·&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;The ‘days’ are regarding school days so if a student has a late assignment that hasn’t been turned in by the weekend, they will not receive any further percent deduction until the following Monday.&nbsp;<br>· &nbsp;   Any student that turns in a late assignment 6 or more days late will automatically receive a 50% deduction.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>o &nbsp; Assignments that were due when the student was absent but was assigned when the student was present is expected to be turned in the first day they come back to school.</div><div>o &nbsp; Students that missed class because of a school function are expected to maintain their coursework outside of class and will not be given a chance for make-up work.&nbsp;</div><div>o &nbsp; Students that are absent because of a planned event (example: a family vacation) are also expected to maintain their coursework outside of class and will not be given a chance for make-up work.&nbsp;</div><div>o &nbsp; Any assignments that were assigned when the student was absent will be given an extension that mirrors the days the student has been gone.</div><div>·&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Students that have been absent from school for 1-2 days will be given 1 extra day to complete the course work that was assigned when the student was absent.&nbsp;</div><div>·&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Students that have been absent from school for 3-4 days will be given 3 extra days to complete the course work that was assigned when the student was absent.&nbsp;</div><div>·&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Students that have been absent from school for 5 days will be given an extra week (7 days) to complete the course work that was assigned when the student was absent.&nbsp;</div><div>·&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Students that have been absent from school for 6 days or more are to meet with Mrs. M to discuss what would be considered an appropriate extension.&nbsp;</div><div><br>If the extra days given to a student now assigns make-up work on a weekend day, then the student will not be expected to turn in the make-up work until the following Monday.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>
