I took part in the Virtual Visit to the Directorate-General for translation. The part I enjoyed the most was dedicated to the recruitment process. I was surprised how far it was from what I had imagined it to be, e.g. I didn’t know that the recruitment tasks are so complex and test more than translation skills.

I watched a video on YouTube about note-taking in consecutive interpreting, because I wanted to get better at it. I know that I still need more time to hone this skill, but I was surprised how much this video actually helped! 

I watched two tutorials on YouTube showing how to create and use a Google Cloud Translate API key in Trados Studio to integrate machine translation with this CAT tool. I remember performing this action in OmegaT, but I was curious how it works in Trados. 

I read an article titled “Neural Machine Translation: A Review of Methods, Resources, and Tools” because as a fan of DeepL, I got interested in how NMT works. I wanted to read more about this from the technical side, as I've been working in the IT industry for a while and machine translation seems like a cool combination of my work and studies. 

I read an interesting post on Facebook about problems with glossaries and QA in CAT tools caused by Polish noun declension and how to deal with them.
