In the realistic-fiction novel Wonder by R.J Palico the main character is August. August is smart and deformed. The text states,'' If I found a magic lamp and I could have one wish, I would wish that i had a normal face that no one ever noticed at all " (Palico,3). August doesn't have a normal face , every one stare at him in disgust and, August wishes he had a normal face that no one will stare at or look away. Just a normal face. ''Third of all hes really smart. I thought he'd be behind everyone because he hadn't gone to school before. But in most things hes way ahead of me'' (Palico,142). Even though he has never been to school before August is still ahead of Jack in many things. Nate ( August dad) is another main character. Nate is funny and caring. ''Dad was the one person in the world who could make me laugh no matter how much I didn't want to laugh''( Palico 13). Nate cares about how August feels about going to school and what August wants to do. Even though August is deformed he is still smart and has a funny and caring dad.

In the realistic fiction novel Wonder by R.J Palico, the novel is written in first person point of view. It has helped me understand the characters feelings, thoughts, and why they did certain actions. When you read books that have first point of view you can understand the character better. its easier to understand them better because you know why a character behave in a certain way. In wonder we found out why Jack said mean thing about August, or why Miranda changed.

In the realistic-fiction novel Wonder by R.J Palico, the theme is Don't be afraid to accept other for their differences. People should look past each others differences and see other for whats on the inside and not the outside. August didn't like it when everyone treated him like he had the ''cheese touch'' Jack said,'' First of all you do get used to his face''( Palico, 142). Jack was the first person to see past Augusts face. Summer also said,'' No. I'm friends with him because I want to be friends with him''( Palico, 119 ). Summer stood up for August because she cares about him. Summer and Jack where the first ones to be friends with August. They saw behind Augusts exterior and saw him for who he truly is.

I give the realistic-fiction novel Wonder by R.J Palico a four and a half star rating. The novel took me through all sorts of emotions joy, anger, sadness, and much more. Throughout most of the book it was happy but in certain cases such as daisy dying, or during the nature retreat I felt different emotions such as sadness, fear, or anger. The novel was amazing, funny, and I really enjoy reading it.
