You do not have to change to try and fit in, but instead you can be yourself. In Frizzy, the main character Marlene was trying to change her hair to try to match other girls that had straight hair, but in the end she discovered herself by embracing her natural hair with confidence. This allowed her to show off her natural beauty that she gained from her culture. Overall, I love this book because it portrays a message of diversity to all the young readers. I think it is so important to love yourself, and love spending time with yourself. If you are truly content with yourself and being your own friend, you will be content regardless of who is in your life. It's important to teacher kids the importance of friendship and community but its equally important to teach kids to be their own friend. 

The book that I recommend for everyone to read is the story titled "Be Your Own Best Friend Forever." I truly loved reading this book, and I loved the message behind it as well. It is so easy to say negative things about ourselves, but really being able to love yourself for who you are takes a process sometimes. This book is a great one that I hope to include in my classroom library because I want my students to all learn to love themselves even if they are different from the other students. 

I believe it is so important for kids to learn to love themselves no matter what the outside world may say. Self-confidence is so important for all ages but especially when kids are starting in school and may be faced with negative outside opinions and bullies. I feel as if having a restroom, let alone even just a toilet is something that we take for granted. It is never something that I think twice about until reading this book. I think that this story can not only teach students about what it was like to live during the Holocaust but also how there can be good sometimes even when you think everything has gone bad in the world. I recommend the book Starfish by Lisa Fipps for you all to read! This book has such a strong message of experiences with body image and positivity. I feel like this is a common struggle that many do not talk about and this book does talk about it. It takes the readers alongside the main character Ellie who is a teenage girl that struggles with body image. As the readers, we feel her emotion and how she is learning to get better with body positivity. This book also covers bullying and how one word can truly affect someone because we never know what someone is going through.  The grade level for this book is 5th grade and up. 

The one novel on my padlet that I highly recommend to my classmates is Starfish. I believe this verse novel is so important and should be in peoples libraries. It sends a message that a lot of people aren't willing to talk about. However, I believe it is such a good message for young minds to read about. 

A book that I highly recommend to read is the book "Starfish" by Lisa Fipps. Starfish is targeted for the ages 16 and up. After reading this for the first time, I was completely shocked to find out that the wolf wasn't bad. The pigs made everyone think that about him, but part of him had a kind heart and he just wanted to borrow some sugar. This book would start at a kindergarten level I believe. There are several pictures and is very entertaining for a younger audience.

A title I highly recommend is The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs by Jon Scieszka. This story is showing the other side of the 3 little pigs' storyline, from the point of view of the Big Bad Wolf. He goes on talking about what happened on his end of the story and what "really happened" and how he needed a cup of sugar and was sick. Through the power of her blog she is able to spread awareness of what a big corporation is doing that is polluting her town and she is able to put a stop to it, despite all of the people that doubted her and told her she was wrong. No matter what they are bringing with them and no matter how who they are, this bus always has room for them.
