In Myanmar, Burmese soldiers used tear gas, stun grenades, and live ammunition against protesters last Sunday. The military coup that took place last month removed and replaced the civilian leader of Myanmar, Aung San Suu Kyi, along with 24 leaders of her government. The military claims that the previous election in which her party won big was fraudulent. Furthermore, tensions between the government and the citizens have been mounting in Hong Kong, where people are holding protests due to the recent arrests and violence towards activists and pro-democracy politicians. Protests have been met with potentially unnecessary police violence, but they also go against COVID crowd size regulations and China’s National Security law. To add on, the British Antarctic Survey (BAS) has been monitoring a massive iceberg, which has recently broken off of Antartica not due to global warming. The BAS claims this happened through a process called calving, which is when chunks of ice break off of glaciers. Additionally, a 21 year old british women set a guinness world record by spending a month at sea rowing 3,000 miles across the ocean all alone. Finally, a reminisce of WW2 still remains from when Germany dropped a total of almost 7000 bombs, one of them went off in the south english city of exeter. Although no one was hurt because it was a controlled experiment, buildings in the surrounding area were destroyed and it also caused a making of a crater at the bomb site.

Analysis
The people of Hong Kong have been holding protests and been met with resistance from the government because of disagreements stemming from China’s National Security Law. It states that anyone who tries to speak against the government will be arrested or faced with other punishment, and over 45 activists have been arrested under it. Many people are protesting against this, and in doing so, are violating both the Security Law itself and COVID regulations. It is an important topic because the violence is mounting and it may spread to other parts of the country soon. People are starting to realize that they have a lot of power over the communist government and, along with other countries such as the United States, it is part of a massive movement of popular protest against the government. Monday, March 8th had four main stories. Furthermore, the state of Georgia is facing the controversial dilemma of ignoring civil time changes. On one hand, time changes can ruin the sleep schedules of people, while on the other time schedules allow for more time when it's bright out, which can be safer for children.. The final story showcases how greatness can easily go unnoticed. In Japan, the oldest living woman in the world is preparing to take part in the Olympic torch relay across Japan. Back in America at Bridgewater State University, the campus is now using 6-wheeled delivery robots to bring food to customers. These robots work almost autonomously with the only thing people needing to do is give the robot coordinates, and their lunch.

With the first story, it is very important that states work to prevent the spread of the virus still, even if cases are going lower. While states opening up restaurants and buildings to full capacity sounds fine, it could also restart a surge of new cases. The way that states handle the virus will either drive cases down or make them rise again.

North Korea's relationship with its neighboring countries has had a major impact on its drive to become self sustainable. The civilians most impacted are the 20 million or more that live outside of the capital where all they know is poverty and labor. They lack vital resources such as clean water and medical supplies. With recent crop failures leading to mass food shortages,  emergency food supplies have been needed to help sustain their lifestyle. A restaurant in the state of Iowa has decided to push out an out of the ordinary breakfast and dessert pizza with fruit loops instead of your standard cheese and tomato sauce. This special kind of pizza has stirred up curiosity and controversy as many people are calling it “crime against humanity” and “an abomination to pizza everywhere.” The greco-roman city of Pompeii was covered in debris after Mount Vesuvius erupted and buried it. This ancient city has been mostly destroyed but what is left of it has been well preserved. Archaeologists have discovered a type of chariot that has never been discovered in Italy. This chariot was made out of Iron, bronze, tin, and wood. Archaeologists believe that it was meant for ceremonial use such as weddings or parades.

Analysis:North Korea and the United States have been against one another for quite some time now. Currently North Korea is working on testing nuclear missiles which the United States finds extremely illegal and threatening. President Biden has yet to set out an official statement on what his plans are to deal with this issue. This becomes highly important due to North Korea keeping all their advancements to themselves and very secretive by having underground tunnels. This leaves everyone to be confused and worried on what their next step could be, especially America.

On the topic of protests and unrest, Hong Kong now sees mild contention between the police force and citizens, having still felt the effects of the protests that began in the summer of 2019. An iceberg the size of New York City broke off Antarctica because one of the cracks in the brunt ice shelf started moving to another one, which eventually freed the iceberg from the rest of the shelf. This happens regularly in Antarctica, and is a natural process called calving. A young British woman just broke the world record for the youngest woman to row solo across the Atlantic Ocean. She started rowing in 2019 and began her journey in 2020. She had some tough moments such as her capsize, but she pushed forward and experienced an amazing journey with nature. And lastly, some old explosives placed during WWII set off near the town of Exeter, having concerned the structural integrity of nearby buildings. Luckily officials evacuated the premises and no one was harmed.
Analysis- During World War II, Germany dropped 7,000+ explosives on Exeter, leaving one to blow up recently. After being found, one of the explosive devices blew up in a controlled experiment by police. Thousands were evacuated in order for the device to explode since it was strong enough to leave an enormous crater and damage to surroundings. With this information, we understand more about WWII and the extremity of military defense when in war.

North Korea as been known to take advantage of the switch of presidential power in the USA, and it is doing so now; satellite images have discovered new buildings that are suspected of housing nuclear weapons. The capital city of North Korea, Pyongyang, is a place where its citizens prosper, but the citizens outside are living a life of poverty. With the long-standing problem of not enough food that North Korea has been facing for sometime, the country has been gaining help from the UN. China and Russia have played a big part in helping North Korea as well. Using this "Deep Nostalgia" system, they are allowing people to see these historical photographs, some of which were taken before motion photos even existed, in a new light.

Analysis: Paleontologists have discovered a new dinosaur, the pantagotitan mayorum, aka the titanosaur. Fossils found in Argentina are not the full picture however, with not all of the remains being found, predating before some of the more well-known & researched dinosaurs were around. The region of patagonia in southern argentina has been an epicenter of the new discoveries & research. This new dinosaur is rumored to be the largest animal that has ever walked the earth at one time, suggesting they were sauropods, having long necks, thick necks, and length of about 65 feet. These new discoveries are impactful since they can gives us knowledge we never had before, changing the way we look at the past and the events that took place to this point. Sharing this news with the people would give anyone a new perspective to the past they didn’t know about. It could also help lead into even larger discoveries that can be made. The final story was about an iceberg the size of New York that broke off from Antarctica. Researchers say however that this is not linked to climate change and is actually caused by cracks in the Brunt Ice Shelf. The crack had been growing a kilometer a day and recently got big enough to break off from the rest of the glaciers but, many wonder will it stay or float off from the rest of Antarctica.

Analysis: 21 year old Jasmine Harrison, a british woman rowed across the Atlantic ocean in a Month; breaking a world guinness record for the “youngest woman to row solo across the Atlantic Ocean”. In her journey she experienced the beauty of the ocean as she encountered sea life such as dolphins and crabs. However, it wasn’t all smooth sailing as she came really close to a bigger ship. Either way she stayed calm and persevered to achieve her goal.Harrison rowed a total of 3,000 miles over the course of one month on her own sailing the Atlantic seas. Analysis -  As the Covid-19 pandemic reaches its first full year, the United States is divided on what to do. Some states continue their shutdowns, some practicing simple protective measures, and others relaxing all restrictions. Some more notable states are Mississippi and Texas, now infamous for completely opening their states, and removing mask mandates. On the other side of the spectrum is California, where lawmakers recommend their citizens wear two masks in an effort to filter out more particles. Other states are somewhere in-between. While seeming irrelevant as case numbers begin to drop, and multiple vaccines are available, protective measures are what have been keeping case numbers lower for months. And with the lack of vaccinations in other areas, chances of new coronavirus strains, possibly immune to the current 4 vaccines can emerge, leaving places with no restrictions vulnerable.

Analysis: The European Nation of Iceland is called "fire and ice" because of the fact that there are glaciers and volcanoes. Recently, meteorologists have seen signs that a eruption from one of the volcanoes is brewing. This is important for southwestern Iceland to know because they need to watch out for it. This is something that most of the people who live there are used to, but they still need to be careful. Though the erupting lava flows will most likely not effect any of the nearby towns. Countries around the world including the US have pressured North Korea to dismantle its nuclear program through sanctions and penalties on its economy. Countries around the world including the US believe that North Korea is constructing new buildings to hide its growing nuclear stockpile. All US presidents since Ronald Reagan all the way up to Joe Biden want North Korea to get rid of their nuclear program because it is a threat to international peace. The episode also talked about the Italian city of Pompeii. This city was buried under ash in 79 AD by mount Vesuvius. Today, scientists are still uncovering relics from the city. One of their recent finds was a chariot.

Analysis: The video mostly talks about North Korea. The episode describes how life is like in North Korea and about the North Korean government. According to the documentary, North Korea is isolated, sanctioned, and at war. It is one of the world's only hermit kingdoms, which means that it purposefully isolates and barricades itself from the rest of the world. North Korea's two main supports are its efforts to be self-sustainable and its few allies.
