Here's the criteria:
  • Due: Thursday, June 16th @11:59pm
  • Format: Video (but can be an assemblage of photographs) or podcast format
  • Length: ~5-10 minutes long 
    • Note: you may collaborate with other students but then your video has to include the same criteria times the number of students, i.e., 2 students must have a video that is at least 10 minutes & discusses 10 organisms & 4 marine biology concepts.
  • Logistics: Tell us about the location. 
    • Where is it?
    • How do you get there?
    • What kind of habitat is it, e.g. open ocean, inlet, wetland, tide pool, salt marsh, etc.)
  • Organisms: Describe at least 5 new organisms that we have not discussed before. 
    • Where are they found?
    • How do you ID them (important characteristics)?
    • Something interesting about this organism.
  • Marine Biology concepts: Discuss 2 concepts from one of the modules in your video, such as ocean acidification, global conveyor belt, invasive species, etc.
  • Reflection: Talk about the location or reflect on the quarter and what you have learned. 
    • Why did you choose this location?
    • Why do you like to go there?
    • What was the coolest field trip you went on and why?
    • What was the most interesting thing you learned?

I also chose Carkeek because the wildlife there is so abundant and it simply just a beautiful area! These two areas have brought me peace whenever I've felt overwhelmed.
The coolest field trip I think we went on this quarter was the UW Fishery collection, seeing all of those preserved species absolutely blew my mind away!
Lastly the most interesting thing I learned was all everything about nudibranchs because I didn't even know what they were before this quarter!
