Equus is a piece of theater written originally by Peter Shaffer but adapted by my good friend Josh Parker. It was performed in Artuadian style-theater to really freak the audience out. I played Alan in the scene who has sexual fixations with Horses. Yeah, bit of a weird one but still a lot of fun to be a part of.

The Dumb Waiter

The Dumb Waiter was my first shot a being a director. Its a piece originally by Harold Pinter so heralded a piece in Pinteresque-style. Starring my friends Josh Parker and Luke Cole, The Dumb Waiter revolves around two hit-men, one amateur and one veteran. It is a real distinction of personalities and made for a very good performance. Josh was kind enough to give some feedback on my directing as well.

"Working with Tom was extremely "colourful" he understood the aims of Harold Pinter for the dumb waiter very clearly, not only did he bring the best out of myself and Luke; he did it in a way that benefitted our strengths before shaping us for the part. Furthermore to benefit the piece he created a very relaxed working inviorment never shouting or even demanding we stop, he would simply sit and observe and quietly say "that's enough of that" once we had finished. I would highly recommend Tom as a director as he clearly demonstrated that he is aware of every change he makes to the piece to bring out a "Bliss"ful performance."

Now every actor has to have a bit of Shakespeare under their belt and i am no exception. I was lucky enough to be a part of a production of the comedy/fantasy 'As You Like It' playing the part of 'Jaques' This was a really fun part to play because Jaques has a lot of cunning but at the same time sass towards all lovers characters. I feel I can relate to this part quite a bit. It also meant I got to perform the 'All the world's a stage' speech which the play is famous for. This was quite the burden but I think I managed it very well.

Status Update was an experimental piece of theater that i was involved with in the National Theater connections project. It revolved mainly around what we as teenagers know and feel about the world we are entering into. There were a lot of challenging sequences in this play including running, quick set moving and embarrassing dancing which is very in keeping with the 'Forced Entertainment' performance group which we based our style of rehearsals and performances around. A pleasing review we were given from a National Theater representative said that "Quite frankly, i cant imagine a more 'Forced Entertainment' version of the play with the actors limits being very clearly tested"

I partook in a session with the 'Swashbucklers' company for a quick course in stage-fighting. We covered hand to hand combat and even plotted our own little scenes employing these punches, kicks, etc. It really was a lot of fun and is definitely something I'm keen to follow up on post-college as I believe, as an actor, its a very useful skill to add to my set.

London Trip 2017

I recently had the privilege to go on theater based trip to London. It was very fun indeed. We had a trip to the ITV studios and saw the set of a new sitcom that will be coming out soon as well as all the amazing facilities they have to use there. Who knows, maybe one day i'll return in a professional venture...

We also of course saw a few plays. We saw three plays in total; The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Nighttime, Much Ado About Nothing and (see picture) Les Miserables. I enjoyed Much Ado About Nothing very much, i found it surprisingly easy to follow and found it incredibly funny indeed. Les Miserables was of course a masterpiece and I can now tick that one off my bucket list as well as two now empty boxes of tissues! These there was 'A Curious incident...' I found it a very interesting play as it played with the theme of Autism. This is of course a very personal theme and i really enjoyed it because it, to me, displayed it in the most accurate way i have ever seen on a stage.
