with this Lars Tunbjork inspired photo I wanted something that showcases the lifts at Ulster and how cramped they can feel at times.

To do this I needed 4+ people to stand in the lift at once with one person standing outside looking in knowing there’s no room left for them in the lift and the awkward feeling between the people in the lift waiting to see if you get in and you standing there waiting for the lift to hurry up and move past you.

In this mock up I drew myself as the person in the photo, however I knew I wanted it to be someone else as I wanted to be able to be the one behind the phone taking the photo.

This is the final product I got with my inspired photo, I used a little bit of editing to enhance the image and make the shadows darker. I also played with the tone as I feel like the cold blue tone enhances that awkward feeling you get while staring into a full lift.

Getting everyone in the lift and getting a photo before the lift doors shut proved to be quite an issue and resulted in me not being able to get a large range of photos to choose from when picking my favourite.

If I had a chance to do this again I would much rather have a slightly lower angle as I think I took the photo slightly too high.

With my photos I was given the theme of ‘Sanctuary’, with this I decided to capture the feeling of when you’re out at a bar/ club with your friends as my friends are where I find my sanctuary.

With my photos I specifically wanted to capture the bright lights and how they reflect on the skin and clothes of the people in the club.

I also aimed to include a large amount of motion blur as I feel this captures the fun carefree feeling you get while with your friends and it creates more of a feeling behind the image with the implications of movement and how your eyes almost can translate the photo into a short video in your mind.

When editing the photos i purposefully turned down the exposure, brilliance and black point while turning up the brightness very slightly and turning the saturation and vibrancy up to almost the full amount, this gave my images the exact feel I was aiming for, unfortunately I feel like this was slightly lost in the printing of the images.

This is my finished sculpture that I created. This is a sculpture of a abstract woman holding an umbrella, the legs of the woman twist into each other and then combine with the flat surface below her, this flat surface was added to help with keeping her standing as the umbrella made her quite back heavy causing her to fall.

The umbrella was added as I wanted some more space to project onto without having a blank wall behind her and this felt like a creative way of ensuring there was more projection space.

The arms are inspired by arms you would see in kid cartoons with their round appearance and lack of proper joints.

This page I put the two photographs close to each other and put them quite low to the bottom of the page.

In quite a few of my pages I avoided giving them a border as I feel like the border gave them a very polished and organise appearance which I didn't think fit in this photobook.

With this photobook I wanted the pages to be quite bare with the photos themselves being the only focus point of the pages.

I feel like the lack of a border gives it a slightly messier scrappier look which I quite enjoy and think helps with the image I was trying to encapsulate with this photobook, I was aiming to encapsulate the rushed and carefree feeling you get when out at night with your friends.

I did experiment with leaving masking tape on the pages and even having a few pages stuck incorrectly, however I felt like this didn't look correct and felt a bit too busy as the images themself are quite busy.

This was my personal favourite drawing exercise as not only was the white chalk on black paper a fun challenge as it forced me to draw the light values rather than the shadows which I sometimes get too comfortable at but also the subject in which i was drawing was also a fun challenge as it was a very detailed skull with intricate details on the surrounding objects.

willow charcoal is becoming one of my favourite mediums to use in fine art as it really forced me out of what I know from sixth form and prevents me from becoming too much of a perfectionist over the small details in my piece which has relieved a lot of the stress for me in art and has helped me enjoy the subject quite a bit more.

Overall this drawing exercise was great at helping teach me perspective as we were always changing angles but also it helped me with timing as the limited time for each caused me to speed up my work resulting in me being able to create the piece attached in 10 minutes roughly. This piece attached is my favourite piece I produced in the fine art unit thus far.

With a few tips from Yasmin such as keeping a bit of the outline around certain objects I feel like I was able to produce a piece of work I am quite proud of.

If I were to go back and do this piece again I would choose different colours that were darker and a little more different to one another as certain parts of the painting blend together with one another in my eyes

With this plate I created a bunch of tiny balls all different in size and stacked them in a way that makes it look like it shouldn’t be able to stand on its own without them all falling apart. To keep them together I used slip (water and clay mixed) and cross hatching to create a secure grip.

If I had more time I would have liked to create more dramatic curves in the structure and make it look even less possible for it to stand on its own, really push it to its limit.

With this one I played around with warping the actual plate itself and creating a hill like design with a river flowing down between the mountains on either side.

Making sure the plate stayed warped and elevated was quite a challenge and proved to be quite difficult however by pinching the clay I was able to get it to hold its shape.

If I was given more time I would have liked to give the “hills” on either side a grass like texture instead of a lined style.

This is the planning page for my shirt.

Initially I had another idea of doing a shirt with a bunch of paint spills on it however I didn’t go with this idea as it felt very uninspired and predictable almost.

I would of dyed the shirt using different paints but I wasn’t sure if this would give the look I was envisioning so I strayed away from dying the fabric completely

I wanted a design that would lend itself to one of the techniques that we learned in class.

The skeleton design was instantly a stand out to me and was what I focused on mainly when planning.

For this project we had to work in groups, I was in a group with Finlay and Sarah.

In the group I took on a leadership role making sure all the essential work was completed and all the ideas were at least on the page.

Due to time constraints we were not able to fill our page to a level that I would of liked, however I am proud of what I personally contributed to the work.

I created the name of the app, the concept of the app, the description, the general writing on the larger page and layout of the app. I got help from my group when creating a "fake person" that fit our target audience.

I wrote out the description of who she was and why she would be using the app as to show the type of people our app would be aimed towards.

I decided to focus a lot of the app around the concept of food as our prompts were age:49-63 , theme:food , media:VR/AR , and fit for a family.

The concept I created is an app that allows for parents of children who are moving out to Uni or moving out to simply live on their own, to create a list of family recipe and have a simple and easy way of sharing them with the children.

On the other end of the app their child who has now moved out would be able to select from the menu of options and be able to point their camera towards the ingredients infront of them and the app show AR (augmented reality) style notes beside each ingredient; such as pointing it at a bag of flour may say "2 cups of flour into the bowl" or if you point it at the flour a step too early it may say "Not needed yet".

Overall I am proud of what I was able to accomplish and I am happy with my concept, I do wish I had more time to complete the work as I was struggling to get all that We needed done in time.
