Moses was the person who had  the easiest contact with God. He guided all of the Hebrew People to the promised land. He also asked God for food and water and helped them overcome obstacles. (parting of the Red Sea)

He brought them hope and a chance of freedom, as well as sparking their desire for freedom. Both Moses and Martin Luther King Jr. "have been to the mountain top." Also, they saw the promised land, but did not make it there. MLK was assassinated the day after his "I've been to the mountain top" speech. Moses could not enter the promised land because he murdered an Egyptian.  Both of them lead their people to a better place, when their lives could be lived out in freedom. (Moses lead the Israelites out of slavery from Egypt, and Martin Luther King Jr. lead his people out of segregation and extreme racism.)
