Although our musical tastes can be quite different, we want to focus on what we have in common.

Salsa is a genre of music that we in Colombia often listen to and dance to at all kinds of festivities. This music can be danced solo, but it is preferred to dance with a partner.

In Colombia, the birth of this genre takes us back to the 20th century when Cuban culture mixed with the culture of Cali, Colombia. We embraced this genre and adapted it to our own culture.

While we enjoy salsa, our favorite music is not necessarily from this genre. Talking about our favorite songs is challenging because we like many songs across different genres, making it difficult to choose just one. However, if I had to pick one, I would choose "Monster" by Kanye West, which belongs to the rap genre. My partner's favorite song is "Quizás, Tal Vez" by Eladio Carrión, which falls under hip hop/rap.

My favorite holidays are the november holidays, this is a group of days where we celebrate the independence of my city using fireworks and other things like that.

Now I would probably like to travel to USA again because there are a lot of amazing things that I have never seen before.

Firts of all, my favourite tradition of Colombia is the 'Dia de velitas', that's celebrated between the night of the 7th of december, and the morning of the 8th. This is a religious tradition that conmmemorates the birth of the Virgin Mary. During this festivity, people place candles and paper lanterns on sidewalks, balconies, porches, or streets in honor of the Virgin.

Right now, if I had the opportunity to travel anywhere in the world, I'd like to go to New York, because it is a city that seems very interesting, and also because I have had the opportunity to travel to other cities in the US, but I've never been to New York.

I like pop music, and I mostly listen to music in english, because my favourite artist is Taylor Swift and I love the way her music tells a story and makes you feel what she is trying to tell through her songs. I have a lot of songs that I really love, but if I had to choose one I'd choose 'Valerie' by Amy Whinehouse.

One of my favorite traditions is the "Novenas", it consists of nine days, begining on the 16th of December and finishing on the 24th. We pray, eat and sing and it's pretty much like a countdown until christmas, I like it because I get to spend a nice time with my family and neighbors.

If I could traver anywhere in the world I would probably go to Switzerland, I think it's a beautiful country and seems like a peaceful and quiet place.

My favourite kind of music would be Rap/Hip Hop, and the artists I like the most are Tyler The Creator and Kendrick Lamar because they have a unique style that gives a new perspective to the genre.

My favorite holiday is called "Día de las Velitas". It is celebrated on December 7th and 8th. This day is special because I meet with all my family and we light candles as a symbol of new blessings in our lives. Then we usually drink hot chocolate and coffee, eat custard and some sandwiches and finally start playing music out loud, especially something called "Vallenato dicembrino". If I could travel anywhere I would buy immediately a trip to Paris, France. I think it is a fancy city and its monuments are beautiful. But what I like the most is the cuisine and the restaurants there, the unique clothes designs and the perfumes.

I like to listen to pop music -my favorite artist is Taylor Swift-, but I also listen to reggaeton, ballads, salsa, vallenato, and other music genres. What I like about these songs is that they tell a story with a nice rhythm.

A tradition that I feel that is actually unique is “Las fiestas de Noviembre” we celebrate during November with lots of colorful parades and different kind of fun activities. Like throwing a party foam to others and little water bags to get wet while having an enjoyable time with our relatives.

I want to share with you the cultural tradition of my country that I like the most, which is the days when Colombia's independence is celebrated. Seeing the people euphoric and happy during these days is the best; there are parties and celebrations everywhere. If I could travel right now, I would like to go to Paris to experience the city and its romantic atmosphere. I like reggaeton because of the vibes it conveys

First of all, one of my favorite celebrations is the November festivities. This celebration is really popular in my city, Cartagena, because it marks the day of its independence. It's also really exciting because you can play and joke around without anyone giving you an earful. It is common to throw things like water, cornstarch and spray foam at each other.

I’m also really interested in traveling to Europe, specifically Italy. I would like to know and explore the culture and art there. If I get the chance, I’d like to take a train to France to visit the Louvre. I like going to museums, so this one it's one of the places I want to go if I travel there.

In Colombia there are several traditions during the year but one that I would like to highlight is the tradition of the “ El dia de las velitas”. This custom takes place on the night of December 7th and continues until the following day December 8th. During this small activity families gather to light some candles in front of their house until it is consumed, but why do they do it, at the moment of lighting the candles people start to make wishes for the new year that is coming, also families usually enjoy this tradition with Christmas carols, traditional food such as natilla and buñuelos (fritters) and fireworks.

If I could travel around the world I would love to visit many countries but especially the next one I am going to mention. I would like to travel to Japan because it is a country with unique customs and a lot of style in my opinion. Japan seems to me a peaceful country, with quite nice and attractive tourist places. Another reason why I would like to go to this country is because of the things they sell, since in my country you can't find many things of one of my favorite characters which is hello kitty and my melody from sanrio. I currently like many genres of music but my favorites are pop, kpop, hip hop and rap. It is difficult to decide which is my favorite song since I like many songs but I can mention some of them. My favorite tradition is “Fiestas de Noviembre,” a small carnival celebrated in Cartagena to mark Independence Day and the excitement leading up to Christmas. During this festivity, locals often organize “comparsas,” which are groups of people who go out and dance in their neighborhoods. This activity is filled with happiness and kindness toward one another. People also like to get a bit playful and buy “espumas,” which are party foams used for jokes. They are typically used to spray on family and friends.

I enjoy listening to different types of music. Right now, I love studying while listening to music of my favorite singer Harry Styles. However, when I need to do something that doesn’t require much concentration, I enjoy listening to reggaeton. I have a lot of favorite songs depending on the type of music, one example being “Treat people with kindness (TPWK)”

I love traveling, so if I had the chance, I would take a plane, rent a van, and travel around Latin America, visiting Brazil. After finishing my road trip there, I would travel to Europe and continue exploring the continent by road.

Now, I want to share with you an important tradition called the "Festival de la Leyenda Vallenata." This is the most important event for Vallenato music and has been celebrated every year in Valledupar, Colombia, since 1968. The festival aims to preserve the four rhythms of this music genre: "paseo," "merengue," "son," and "puya."

For me, it’s a very important celebration because all the members of my family like Vallenato, and I’m no exception. My family went to Valledupar in 2017; unfortunately, I couldn’t travel with them, but they told me it was one of the greatest experiences of their lives. They spent the whole night singing many songs like "Los caminos de la vida," sung by Omar Geles, "La creciente," "Amarte más no pude," and "Todo daría por ti," which are tributes to Diomedes Díaz, Patricia Teherán, and Rafael Orozco, who are no longer with us.

Despite everything I’ve shared and the incredible experience my family had, Vallenato isn’t my favorite type of music. Instead, I love pop and the kind of music that Arctic Monkeys and TV Girl make a little more than Vallenato. Considering this, my favorite artists, besides those I mentioned, are: Harry Styles, One Direction, David Kushner, Benson Boone, Billie Eilish, and Mora, a reggaeton singer.

Now I want to share a custom of many mothers here in the Colombian coast, it is common to see mom cooking soup in hot days, so, be prepared to suffer those days😂, there are soups like the "sancocho", the "ajiaco" or "mondongo soup".

If i could travel anywhere i would probably go to Tokyo, Japan, because of the diversity of cars there are, and because Japanese engineering is well known as the most reliable in the whole market. Also I can't lose the opportunity to taste the Japanese food and get many experiences there.

I like the Pop and it's derivatives, like afrobeat, actually my favourite song is called "Luz Verde - DEKKO", i like how the artist performs in this song and how him voice match very good with the beat.

Si pudiera viajar a algún lugar sería Costa Rica para hacer surfing. También porque nací allí. Mi música favorita es Hip-Hop y me cantante favorita es Kendrick Lamar.

Otro parte de mi es que me encanta el fútbol y juego y veo los partidos de fútbol mucho.

Me gustaria viajar a muchos luagres como Francia, Corea de sur y España. Me gustan los lugares diferentes y las tradiciones. La comida también es muy buena alli. Quiero visitar Francia porque quiero ver la torre eifel y me gustan los baggettes mucho. Corea de sur es diferente por que me gusta la cultura y la lengua. Quiero ir España por que me gusta la comida muchisimo y todo es interesante para mi.

Me gustan muchos géneros de música. Pero mi artista favorita es Billie Eilish. Ella es super bonito y canta muy bien. También me gusta la musica español pero no tengo un artista favorito.

Una tradición única de Hadley (donde yo vivo) que me gustaría compartir con ustedes es el Festival de los Espárragos, que tiene lugar en junio. Todos los años, los granjeros de Hadley se reúnen después de la cosecha de espárragos para celebrar el fin de la estación (el verano). En la plaza central de Hadley, los granjeros y los artesanos ponen puestos en que exhiben todo tipo de cosas relacionadas a los espárragos. Por ejemplo, hay siempre camisas con imágenes de espárragos, juguetes en formas de espárragos, y hasta helado al sabor de espárrago. Celebramos este festival porque Hadley fue la capital mundial de los espárragos durante muchos años en el pasado. 

Si pudiera viajar a cualquier lugar, iría a Québec, en Canadá. Ya hablo francés desde hace cinco años, y comprendo el acento francés de Francia bien, pero quisiera escuchar y acostumbrarme a otros acentos francófonos. Además, me gustaría explorar y caminar por las calles encantadoras, y mirar la catedral que fue construida en un estilo gótico. 

iMe gustan muchos tipos de música y no tengo un estilo favorito! Escucho música pop, rock, independiente, y obras de teatro. En este momento, tengo múltiples canciones favoritas, como “Starburster” de Fontaines D.C., “Nobody” de las Crane Wives, y “INGRID” de Ajar.

Una tradición de mi familia que mi gusta es ir al desfile de Patick´s Day en Holyoke cada año en marzo. Es una dia muy divertido y como fried dough y cotton candy.

Me gustaria viajar a Irlanda porque la familia de mi mamá es Irlandesa y el pais es muy bonito.

Me gusta la musica pop. Mis artistas favoritos son Taylor Swift y Gracie Abrams y muchos ortos artistas de pop.

Una tradición de mi familia es ir a la Florida para celebrar el dia del acción de gracias. Cuando yo y mi familia estamos en Florida, nosotros nadamos mucho.

Me gustaría visitar Grecia porque es un lugar muy bonito y la comida es muy deliciosa. También yo quiero visitar países de Africa, por los animales.

Otra deto sobre mi, yo y mi familia visitamos Suecia por todo verano. Nosotros tenemos una casa en Suecia cerca de la playa. En Suecia, los veranos son un poco frío. También mi mejor amigo vive allí.

Una tradición en mi pueblo se llama luminarium. Esta es una tradición muy pequeña, pero muy emocionante. Tenemos muchas luces en la calle y cuando anochece es muy bonito. Muchas casas en mi pueblo participan en esta tradición.

Yo viajara a España. He visto la cultura y los lugares en este país, y me gusta mucho. Los edificios son muy diferentes y son muy bonitos. Viajaría a Barcelona, porque los edificios son mi favorito, y esta ciudad tiene un club de fútbol que me gusta mucho. Quiero ver un partido y las personas en el partido.

Tengo un artista favorito, y se llama Pop Smoke. Tiene una voz muy diferente, pero es muy emocionante para escuchar. El tipo de música es rap, y es muy emocionante. Me gusta muchos tipos de música, pero el rap es mi favorito.

Una tradición de mi familia que me gusta es hace pierogis, en Deciembre. Es una actividad divertida.

Se pudiera viajar a cualquier parte del mundo, yo viajo a Paris. Es una muy bonita país. Me encantaría visitar la torre Eiffel en Paris.

Yo le gusta el toda musica. Yo no tengo una artista favorita, pero le gusta muchas artistas diferentes.

Si yo pudiera viajar a cualquier lugar en el mundo, viajaría a un lugar con montanas bonitas. La montana que me gustaría ver mas es Vinicunca en Peru. Los colores de la montana me parecen muy chéveres y gustaría verla mucho. También me gustaría ver las montañas Atlai en Kazakhstan y los North Cascades en los Estados Unidos.

Me gustan muchos todos los géneros de música pero mis géneros favoritos son jazz, folclórica, y merengue. Me gusta jazz porque yo toco el saxofón y es muy divertido tocar la música jazz. Me gusta la música folclórica porque tiene mucha alma y también tiene comentarios politicos que me parecen interesantes. No sé como descubrí merengue pero me gustan muchos los ritmos y la actitud positiva. Mi artista favorita es Jack Johnson porque su música es muy relajante.

Una tradición en los Estados Unidos que me encanta es la Pascua, ¡especialmente en mi familia! ¡Mi familia tiene muchas tradiciones de Polania que celebramos durante la Pascua! Por ejemplo, antes de cenar, todos rompemos un huevo en un juego para ver cuál es más fuerte!

¡Si pudiera viajar a cualquier parte del mundo, viajaría a Italia porque me gustaría conocer a la gente de Italia! ¡Especialmente quiero probar mucha comida de Italia!

I’m María Fernanda Miranda Díaz, AKA Mafe. I’m 16 years old. One of my favorite traditions is the Carnaval de Barranquilla, a vibrant festival celebrated with colorful costumes, lively music, and traditional dances. It’s a fantastic way to experience the rich culture and joy of Colombia.

If I could travel anywhere in the world, I’d choose Monaco. It’s a unique and exclusive city known for its stunning architecture and glamorous events. I’d love to visit during the Monaco Grand Prix because the city’s beauty and the excitement of the race make it an unforgettable experience.

Currently, the song I can’t stop listening to is “Die with a Smile” by Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga. However, I enjoy listening to all kinds of music depending on my mood, from K-pop and pop to trap and old Spanish songs. My music taste is pretty diverse!

Mi pueblo, Hadley, tiene una tradición muy única y divertida. Esta tradición se llama “festival de espárragos”. Tenemos este festival porque nuestro pueblo tiene muchas granjas/fincas y cultivamos mucho espárrago. Celebramos este cultivo y muchas otras comidas con espárrago. Es interesante porque aún tenemos helado con sabor de espárrago. Este festival ocurre en junio. 

Me gusta mucho viajar y explorar nuevos países. Un lugar del mundo que me gustaría viajar es Austria porque tiene muchas montañas bonitas. También me gustaría viajar a Nueva Zelanda porque me parece hermoso.

I'm Emmanuela Lozano, I'm 17 years old and I live in Turbaco. My favorite tradition of Colombia is the Holy week or Semana Santa as we call it here, this celebration is amazing because people travel a lot and also spend time with their family. I'd love to visit Englandd one day, I went to Europe and instantly fell in love with Italy but I couldn't visit England so I'd love to go there and visit the different stadiums like Wembley or Etihad. My favorite singer is Quevedo, he is Spanish and he makes the best song ever like "Columbia".

My favorite festivity of Colombia is "El día de las velitas", it is a day of December in which we turn on a lot of colorful candles along the streets, some people also make wishes, We also make bonfires, shoot fireworks, and many other things. Something else that I used to do with my friends was to burn the papers from that year of school in the bonfire haha. I always have a good time with friends and family.
