See: In my picture I see, Jesus on the cross along with the other two men who were sentenced to be killed with him. I also noticed the Darkened Dark proving that God is nearby, and a crowd of people watching as Jesus dies. I saw that the man on the left was looking at Jesus while the other was looking away from Jesus.
Think: I think the artist did this because they wanted to focus on this moment where there was a presence of God in the picture and that people knew that he was the real king of Jews. I also think they made the men at Jesus side like that because it shows off who of those two men is the one who asked Jesus that he could be with him when they arrived in heaven.

SEE - I see Jesus on a hill with the two criminals. A crowd surrounds them and they are kneeling and bowing except in a few places that, together, form a long, winding path, with Roman Centurions running or trying to keep people out. I believe that Jesus has just died, because of the thick dark fog surrounding the hill, and only at the top, shinning down on Jesus, there is light.
THINK - I think the author/artist made it look like this to highlight how significant Jesus' death was. It impacted hundreds, if not thousands, hence the people bowing and knelling all over the hill. Jesus paid the ultimate price for us and when he did sacrifice himself, it got very dark and cloudy. He suffered for us then he ascended into heaven, removing original sin from all of humanity.
WONDER - I believe this image shows Jesus as the Paschal Lamb. The people around him bow and kneel, as if they were thanking him or apologizing to him, and the dark fog could also symbolize original sin, and the light around Jesus showing God cleansing original sin. Some of the centurions may be running because they have realized that he was innocent.

1. In this picture there is much detail. I see how light the sky is, under each cross there are people, and to the right soldiers, but under Jesus' cross I see a skull and no one there for him. There is also a path heading high up to a city which seems to be Jerusalem but could resemble heaven. Lastly, his head is not completely looking down so you can see he isn't fully dead yet.

2. I think Jesus' is dying and suffering on the cross but is not fully dead. I think the people around him don't truly understand what is happening and how he is the Messiah. Others around him like the soldiers are doing their job and people under the left cross are morning the passing of the other victim who was crucified.

3. Most theological image in the picture is that Jesus' is being portrayed as the lamb of God in this image because he is not fully dead and nobody is with him at the bottom of his cross. I think the artist did this to get the viewer to see how he suffered for all humanity and save us from Adams doing. Just like how the lamb was sacrificed to save the Jewish people. Although, this image does not include the eclipse that happened when Jesus passed this bright sky shows how Jesus is our way into heaven.

1. In this picture, I see many Roman soldiers around the scene of Jesus's crucifixion looking in fear and amazement at the light shining on Jesus. Jesus appears to be dead after much suffering. Many other people surround the scene as well. Jesus is next to two sinners who were also put on a cross. There is also a storm in the sky but in the center there is a ray of light shining on Jesus.
2. I think the artist did this to symbolize Heaven opening up and to show the realization of the people regarding what had happened when they crucified Jesus. The storm symbolized the natural phenomenon of that day. And I think the artist wants me to think about the path that Jesus opened to Heaven for all people who believed.
3. The theological reasons for the death of Jesus reflected in this image is Paschal Lamb. This image is reflected because it shows Jesus dying to save humanity. This is shown as the light opens up and it is clear in the image that Jesus has suffered and is now dead.

1. I see Jesus on the cross with wounds all over his body with blood dripping down. In the background there is a body of water with lots of trees and mountains. At Jesus' feet there are two women and closer up seem to be Mary and Joseph. Above and below Jesus there is a sign. The weather is bright and sunny as well. Further back there seems to be a building. On Jesus there is a crown of thorns and nails in his hands and feet. He is wearing only a cloth around his waist.
2. I think the artist did this to truly show us Jesus gave up himself for us. He was willing to die and was prepared. Jesus truly loved us and forgave us from our sins no matter what it cost him. Jesus was prepared to go back home after his work on earth. As Jesus had his last few moments on the cross. This picture was for us to realize how much Jesus did for us and, how he would do it all over again for us to be saved.
3. I think the theological reason for the death of Jesus is the Paschal of the Lamb. Just like in the Passover the Lamb was given up, just like Jesus did for us. Jesus gave himself up so we could ascend into heaven. Jesus was willing to do anything for us even if it meant getting punished for something he didn't do. He opened up his heart to many so we could feel at home once again. Even though Jesus was killed the skies remained bright ahead.

See - I see Jesus on the cross in the middle and the other criminals being crucified next to him. Above them is a dark sky or a storm and a red moon in the distance. The clouds are splitting and letting light through, shining on Jesus and everyone else. People are surrounding the crosses and what looks like Mary under Jesus. There appear to be guards mixed in with the followers of Jesus. There is also a mountain to the left (Which could represent Moses and the commandments and Abraham sacrificing his son Isaac), a lighting bolt coming from the sky, and a building far off in the distance.
Think - In this picture, I think that Jesus is dying and going up to heaven to be with his Father. Jesus is opening the gates of heaven to save the people from sin and hell. He sacrificed himself all so that we may go to heaven when we die. I think that the artist is focusing on the fact that Jesus is opening the gates of heaven like in the image when the clouds are splitting letting light through. The artist wants the viewer to realize that Jesus opened the gates of heaven for us.
Wonder - The artist is trying to focus on how Jesus is the Ransom for many. Jesus paid the price of death so the gates of heaven will open and we will be saved. He is the price paid to save us all and allow us into heaven when we die. Jesus did not come to be served, but to serve others and give his life for the saving many.

I think the artist made the colors in the picture very dull to represent the darkness and dullness that covered the world when Jesus died. I think the artist put angels in the sky to represent Heaven opening up to God's people. The artist is most likely trying to focus on what happened in the world after Jesus died on the cross. These things include the people weeping, the Kingdom of God opening up, and the darkness/dullness.

3. This picture represents the image of Jesus as the Ransom for Many. Jesus paid the price for the people on Earth. As the picture shows, Heaven opened up after Jesus died. The opening of Heaven was the reward to the people for Jesus dying.

1. What I see in my picture is a sky that is both dark and light. Jesus is hanging on the cross, with a sign overhead, covered in a clean white cloth. Behind Jesus is a town but in front are people. Mary is exhausted in front of the cross and John is praying in the back. There are two other people infant of the cross, one may be Mary of Magdalene and the man could be a follower. In the back left, there are two men, most likely guards, carrying ladders.
2. I think the artist showed the two men carrying ladders (second man cut off on padlet) to show viewers that they are going to take Jesus off the cross, proving he has died. The artist also showed the Marys, who look very exhausted, to give us insight on how long and tiring their day must have been. Jesus, is pictured with his head down, to once again focus on the fact that he has died. John is pictured in the back with his hands folded to help us understand that he is praying for Jesus and shows us him mourning. I think the artist included these very close details to help us be able to put ourselves as one of the people there, helping viewers to gain a better understanding.
3. The theological reasons for death that best fit my image is the Passover Lamb. In the picture, Jesus is clean with little blood, just as the Passover Lamb had to be without blemishes. His cloth is pure white and not stained. Due to Jesus' wounds being shown with little blood, we can infer that because of the blood of Jesus and the lamb, the people are saved from death. This shows because of Jesus' wounds, we are healed. If you look at the background of this picture, Jesus is sacrificed on a mountain, Issac was also going to be sacrificed up on a mountain. Due to Jesus being clean, shown with wounds, and being sacrificed on a mountain, I believe this image reflects the Passover Lamb. I believe it is not ransom of many because there are few people in this picture, and it is not Jesus the Suffering Servant because the information shows us he has already suffered and is no longer suffering.

Jesus, with a clean body, is on the cross, looking to a man in Heaven. People stand weeping at his feet, with a light shining on him. A city stands in the background in the dark.

The artist wants to show Jesus's last minutes, and how his death brings the light of Heaven to the people, even though they weep for him. The artist doesn't show any blood on Jesus because he was perfect in the eyes of God, who is looking at him from the sky. The light of Heaven, coming from God, lights up Jesus and his followers, but not the city in the background.

This painting shows Jesus as the Paschal Lamb. Just like the lamb was killed, and the angel of death passes over the Jewish people, Jesus is killed, and the darkness of death and sin is overtaken by the light of Heaven. Heaven is opened by Jesus' death, because he was killed for humanity to be saved. The Passover lamb had to be without blemish, and in the painting Jesus is unharmed. This represents how he was perfect, and sent down to Earth only to save us. In his death he is reunited with God in Heaven.

1. I see Jesus with a cloth around his waist and the crown of thorns, his sign and the two criminals along with roman soldiers at his feet that appear to be running away from something. It looks to be other people rather than roman soldiers which could be John, Mary and Mary Magdelene. There is also a dark sky with light coming through and shining specifically on Jesus. Finally, they are all on some sort of dirt hill with a big boulder at the top.
2. I think my artist wants us to focus on the light shining on Jesus. He is trying to portray when Jesus died and when he opens the gates of heaven for all. Jesus looks pictured with his head on the side of his arm which I think the artist drew him like that to symbolize his death. I also believe that after Jesus died, there were supernatural events, the sky became dark, and an earthquake had happened which is why I believe that in my picture Jesus has just passed. All of the roman soldiers on horses appear to be running away and looks to be scared of something which I think they would be running from an earthquake. I think the artist added all of these details to show us what it was like right after our Lord had passed.
3. I believe the theological reason that best fit my image is the ransom for many. In the picture, Jesus has just died on the cross and there is a light that looks to be shining from Heaven. I think the artist made this because it makes Jesus the represent the light in the dark and the way he sacrificed himself just so we can have eternal life in Heaven with him. Jesus is the ransom for many because he had to pay the price to save us from sin, Jesus paid his life in order to save us, because really wanted us to be saved. Jesus died and opened the gates of Heaven for all to enter God's Kingdom. The artist focused on Jesus dead on the cross right after he died.

1. In this image of the crucifixion of Christ, Jesus has died on the cross, his head hanging to the side helps confirm this. The cross has a sign that reads, "King of the Jews", and the entire cross itself is up against a brick door. Jesus' blood from the brutal death he suffered is smeared all over both him and the door behind him.
2. I think the artist was trying to focus on how Jesus had just died an extremely brutal death. His blood is spattered everywhere, symbolizing that he was beaten and tortured up until he finally hung his head down and dies. The darkness surrounding him showed that the gift of Jesus was gone, and the earth was filled with sadness.
3. The theological reason for the death of Jesus portrayed in this image is the passover lamb. Jesus' blood is smeared on the door behind him, symbolizing that he died to save us. In the old testament, on passover a young innocent lamb was killed for it's blood to be spread on door posts of the Jew's houses, that way the holy spirit wound "pass over", saving their firstborn from death. Jesus died innocently to save us from death and sin, similar to the lamb. On his cross it reads that he was king of the Jews, which could also add an additional tie to the passover lamb saving the Jews from death, as Jesus saved his people.

SEE: Jesus is on the cross next to two other innocent people. There is a soldier with a horse, and three women mourning at the foot of the cross. There is a ladder behind Jesus. There are dark clouds, with a little bright light opening shining on them. The sun may be rising.
THINK: I think that Jesus is dead and heaven is now opening up for all of us. Jesus might be getting taken off the cross because of the ladder. One of the women may be Mary, because there are not a lot of people surrounding Him.
WONDER: I think the artist did this to show that Jesus died for our sins. Because he just died, gates to heaven are now welcoming Jesus and all His people. I wonder if the sky opening up shows an image of Ransom. I think that Jesus has just died, so he is delivering us from sin and death. The sun is rising, maybe representing both new day and eternal life.

1.In this image I see Jesus crucified along with two others. There is a dark sky, mountains, skulls, and trees. There is a ladder on the cross on the left. There are many people surrounding Jesus. I also see people holding on to the cross, people kneeling down and the cloth around Jesus.
2.I think the artist showed these elements to show the viewers Jesus suffering for us. The people at the bottom are all of the people Jesus saved. He suffered behalf on humanity showing that he is "The Suffering Servant."
3. I thinks the artist is trying to portray Jesus as the suffering Servant. Jesus is on the cross saving us all from our sins. He saved all the people who are standing below him.

1. What I see, in my image I can see Jesus nailed on the cross with a saying at the top of the cross. There is 2 people next to him, one on his right and one on his left that are also on a cross but instead they are tied to it. I also see a bunch of soldiers holding spears coming up the hill either walk or on horses to be where Jesus is, it looks like all of these soldiers are coming from a kingdom. Right below Jesus is Mary crying at his foot and besides Mary is a bowl with stuff in it and a man with his arms out while facing praying to Jesus. The sky id all dark except for the one part which is fight by Jesus's cross where there is light shinning through.
2. I think that artist did this to show all of the people that witnessed this. Also you can see that it is all dark around but right above Jesus there is a shinning light that is showing the opening to heaven which he will rise too soon. Also its showing Mary it his feet to show that she deeply cared about him. Here they are trying to focus on how were the light is shining through that is the opening to heaven and now that Jesus has died you ca see people looking up and realizing that from his death he has opened the gates pf heaven for everyone who follows his word to have eternal life.
3.The theological reason for the death of Jesus that is most reflected on in my image is ransom. I think this because this image is showing Jesus already dead, so he is the ransom. Also everyone is looking up and realizing that the good thing is that they will have eternal life for them. This may be portrayed as a sad seen by really its happy beaus Jesus is in no pain and now you can have eternal life.

See:
I see Jesus, with his hands nailed to the cross, with angels collecting the blood from his hands and waist. There is a sign above the cross that states INRI, which means, "Jesus: King of Jews". There are two people underneath him, the one on the right looks mournful and touched by Jesus' death. I believe that he is John because of his long hair. The one on the left looks calm, yet a bit sad. I believe she is Mary because of her headpiece.

Think:
I think the artist painted this image to show both human and divine reaction to the death of Jesus. Jesus is already dead in this painting, as his head is down, and Mary and John are mourning his death, which shows the sad reaction of the people in Jesus' life. The angels are surrounding him and collecting his blood, showing how much they valued their King.

Wonder:
I think the theological image of Jesus shown through this painting is the Pascal Lamb because Jesus was killed on the cross in order for us to ascend to Heaven. Jesus is also bleeding at the side, and the angels are collecting it. This resembles how people would put blood on their doors during passover. The opening of Heaven is also shown through the angels coming down to Earth, showing how Jesus opened Heaven and died for our sins.

1. What I see in this painting is very many people gathered around the base of the crosses. In the top left there is also a light spot in the dark and cloudy sky. Jesus seems to be alive on the cross and it looks like there is a guard up on a ladder behind his cross who had just put him up there. I also notice that Mary and John are at the bottom of the cross as well as two other people on crosses.
2. I think the artist did this to show Jesus' suffering and how bad it was. I believe that the artist was trying to focus on the fact that Jesus was suffering and through his suffering there was now a clear easy path to heaven so humanity could go there. I think the author would want the viewer to think about how because of Jesus' suffering we can go into heaven once we die and live up there with God.
3. The theological reason reflected most in the death of Jesus in this painting is Jesus the suffering servant. He is the demonstrating the suffering servant in this because he is still on the cross alive suffering. The reason that he is up on the cross suffering is on behalf of humanity so that we can go to heaven.

SEE- I see that this image is more colorful compared to other paintings of the crucifixion then what i've seen before. I see that jesus is most likely dead having his head is slumped down and there is a women, most likely Mary crying and praying at his feet. I see there is a break in the ground with a skull in it, most likely signifying the earth quake that happened when he died. I see angels in the sky flying, and pointing to the sky, most likely welcoming jesus and those who can noe enter the gates of heaven. I see people, probably his followers fighting to get to him; one was holding a shirt, possibly to cover him?

THINK- Because Jesus paid for our sins, I believe the angels are pushing the devils out. It appears that Jesus undid what Adam did. I believe that color is returning to the sky, that Jesus has eliminated sin, and that heaven has opened. I think the women at his feet is Mary and she is praying for jesus. I think the people are pushing to touch jesus's body so they can get blessed.

WONDER- I wonder why the artist decided to use such bright colors. I wonder who all those men were and why they were pushing to Jesus. I wonder why the artist chose for jesus to NOT be bleeding. I wonder what the angels were holding.

I think the artist is portraying jesus as the passover lamb. The pass over lamb is portrayed as perfect and un broken, like jesus in this painting.

SEE: I see Jesus on the cross with the two criminals beside him. A man with a sword on a horse piercing them to see if they are dead. The sky is dark but is being overtaken by the light. There is a lot of people surrounding the scene, one who has a ladder, signifying that Jesus is dead. The people in the scene have varying reactions, some are sad others look like they are trying to look away. There is also a halo above Jesus' head. There is a mountain range in the background with two birds flying over it.
THINK: I think the artist showed the light sky overtaking the dark clouds to show good winning over evil. When Jesus died, the gates of Heaven were opened defeating sin. The artist was trying to focus on that even in a dark time, like Jesus' death, there is a greater positive result, the opportunity for eternal life. I think the artist wanted the viewer to truly understand the ultimate sacrifice Jesus made and how it was for the opening of Heaven.
WONDER: I think the theological reason represented in this image is suffering servant. The suffering servant, suffers on the behalf of humanity. Jesus suffered and died to give us the ultimate gift of eternal life. The plan of the Father was for Jesus to take on the burden of sin for all of humanity. Jesus' death was the light in the picture overtaking the darkness of sin, saving humanity. Jesus is the suffering servant in this picture because he was the Messiah who suffered for humanity.

I see Jesus on the cross, in between two criminals. There are people at his feet crying and a light around his head. It looks like there are soldiers in the background. There is also a sunset in the background and the ground is darker.

I think the artist put the light around Jesus' head to show his divinity and holiness. The artist put the people crying to show that Jesus gave his life for them and has now died. I also think that the woman holding Jesus is Mary because she is his mother and wanted to hold him and be with him in his final hours. The soldier behind him was the one who had crucified him and will be the one to take him off the cross.

In this picture Jesus is portrayed as the Paschal Lamb. Jesus is on the cross with no blemishes and no broken bones, just like the Passover Lamb. He died to save all the people mourning his death around him. Jesus was sacrificed just like the lamb to give the people around him eternal life.
