At 9 I open the bakery and my shift ends at 5 o’clock. There are usually many people, but today it’s not much, because today is North Korea’s National Day! But I guess people will come later on. Kim’s Bakery is named after North Korea’s president called Kim Jong Un. After work I really don’t do anything special. At night I do work at a night club until 3 am. (I start at 11 am)

I live in Pyongyang, but I was born in Norway. My parents are all okay, that I live thousands of miles away, but I still visit them when it’s summer. My brother lives in North Korea, too.

I live in Pyongyang, North Korea. I am 23 years old. I work at a sushi bar as a waitress. It´s not my dream job, but it´s better than nothing. I don´t get that much money from this job. I go to work at 8:30 am and I get home at 5:00 pm. I take the underground to work, and it takes me 10 minutes. It is a subway station nearby my apartment, so it takes me a few minutes to walk. The sushi bar is one of North Koreas best. It´s big and we serve more than 100 different types of sushi.
It´s placed in the downtown of Pyongyang. It´s painted black and it has two floors and a huge beautiful garden with vegetables, fruits and herbs that we use to make the sushi. We also have a fish aquarium with many different kinds of fish that we use in the sushi. I get very tired of my job. It´s very strict. My best friend worked there earlier, but she got fired because she made sushi with too much fugu. Fugu is a toxic fish and you may die if you get too much of it in a dish.

Hi. I am Xi Vang Jun. I live in Pyongyang, North Korea, with my little daughter. She is 3 years old. We live in an apartment a little bit outside the downtown of Pyongyang. I like the neighborhood. I miss my family a lot. My sister fled to the USA and now she lives in Boston where she is studying at Harvard. My parents fled to South Korea because they think it´s too dangerous to live here. I have the same opinion, but I do not want to risk anything. I think it´s too dangerous to escape, because I might get killed. It`s also illegal to travel outside North Korea, so I can`t visit them, and they can`t visit me either. It`s way too dangerous! When my daughter and I get older, maybe when she is ten, I am going to try to escape to South Korea. Then I can meet my family. I hope for a brighter future for me and my daughter.

I take the underground to work. It´s a subway station right by the apartments, so it takes me a few minutes to walk. Trains run almost all the time, so I can deliver my daughter to the kindergarten. It takes me about 10 minutes to take the underground to work. I work every day except from the weekend. I had a boyfriend. He disagreed with Kim Jong Un, so he got killed one year ago by a soldier. That is one of the worst things that have ever happened to me.

They died when I was 8 years old and I still miss them. I don't have many frinds, but the one I got are real friends. When my parents died I lived on the streets for 3 years, but then I met a girl and I moved in with her and her parents, the girl is now my best friend, and we do almost everything together and we also work together (she is my boss). I moved out when I was 18 and I got a job when I was 19. Now I live with my best friend, because I was a little bit lonley, she is like a sister to me.
I like to walk around outside if I have time, and we get free food from my job every friday.

Hi, my name is Sonia Kora. Now I'm going to tell you about my life. I live in North Korea, with my daughter and husband. I'm a 26 y/o woman, who loves to bake and make food. My life is really a hurry, with the bakery, our daughter and bills. I did quit the night club when our daughter, Mia was born. I`m gonna tell ya excactly how it happened. I went to the passport control on the border between North- and South-Korea. I had to tell about my family and everything, but I said a little bit too much. I said that i had a sister in USA, and I said that I had a boyfriend who disagreed with Kim Jong Un. That was way too much, so I my applicatin got canceled. But anyways, back to the problem.

I had to escape to the mountains to survive, or I could join the army, but I don`t want to kill people!

So I lay a lot of thought in it, and I decided to escape to the mountains. As you know, I have a little daughter, but I knew that she wasn`t going to survive, so I delivered her to my best friend, that I know that will take care of her. So here I am, in the mountains. I walked around five hours every day until I found a safe place. I found a tiny grotto, and I decided to shut me down. It was beautiful up in the mountains, but there were one big problem. I didn`t have enough food. I took a little bit food with me, but I ate it up reall fast, so it got plot. I had to walk 15 minutes each way just to get water. Nearby there was a lake where I could fish, but I couldn`t live on just fish and water. It was too cold to grow anything, and up in the mountains, it was too difficuilt for me. I lived on fish and water, plus some sort of vegetables for like 2 weeks, bu tafter that my body started to get really tired, and didn`t manage to live. This is my last words: I LOVE YOU.
