By Jennifer L. Betts

Princess Eva waited so long.
She wondered if the fairy had been wrong.
Trapped in the castle was she.
How could this be?
The witch cackled he'll never come.
That prince is a 🤬.
Princess Eva just sighed sadly.
Maybe she didn't want this so badly.
Looking out the window.
She was tired of being in limbo.
When the witch went to sleep
The princess decided to creep
Right down the stairs.
"Who cares?"
She thought with a smile.
"I'm leaving this castle, princess style."
"Who needs a prince?" thought she.
I've just got to rely on me.

The light of a candle
               is transferred to another candle—
               spring twilight.

Mr. Nobody
Mr. Nobody
By Anonymous
I know a funny little man,
  As quiet as a mouse,
Who does the mischief that is done
  In everybody’s house!
There’s no one ever sees his face,
  And yet we all agree
That every plate we break was cracked
  By Mr. Nobody!

‘Tis he who always tears out books,
  Who leaves the door ajar,
He pulls the buttons from our shirts,
  And scatters pins afar;
That squeaking door will always squeak,
  For prithee, don’t you see
We leave the oiling to be done
  By Mr. Nobody!

He puts damp wood upon the fire
  That kettles cannot boil;
His are the feet that bring in mud,
  And all the carpets soil.
The papers always are mislaid;
Who had them last, but he?
There’s no one that tosses them about,
  But Mr. Nobody.

The finger marks upon the door
  By none of us are made;
We never leave the blinds unclosed
  To let the curtains fade.
The ink we never spill; the boots
  That lying round you see
Are not our boots, -- they all belong
  To Mr. Nobody.

Who Has Seen the Wind? By Christina Rossetti
Who Has Seen the Wind? By Christina Rossetti
Who has seen the wind?

Neither I nor you.

But when the leaves hang trembling,

The wind is passing through.

Who has seen the wind?

Neither you nor I.

But when the trees bow down their heads,

The wind is passing by.

Nothing Gold Can Stay
Nothing Gold Can Stay
By Robert Frost

Nature’s first green is gold
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief.
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

Poems about School
Excerpt from Where I'm from
Excerpt from Where I'm from
by George Ella

I am from clothespins,

from Clorox and carbon-tetrachloride.

I am from the dirt under the back porch.

(Black, glistening,

it tasted like beets.)

I am from the forsythia bush

the Dutch elm

whose long-gone limbs I remember

as if they were my own.

I'm from fudge and eyeglasses,

          from Imogene and Alafair.

I'm from the know-it-alls

          and the pass-it-ons,

from Perk up! and Pipe down!

Coming Soon
Coming Soon
By Sara Holbrook

I am how I act

And

I am what I eat.

I sometimes react,

And

I’m not yet complete.

Nothing about me is permanent.

Growing up

Is a chain reaction.

The mirror may reflect

                 ugly duckling,

but inside I’m a
                coming attraction.

Story Poems
No Prince Needed
No Prince Needed

The Light of a Candle
By:
Yosa Buson

The light of a candle
               is transferred to another candle—
               spring twilight.

Black and White

Sometimes the world can be seen as Black and White, but when color appears, don't waste the opportunity to have fun!

[I carry your heart with me (I carry it in]
[I carry your heart with me (I carry it in]

By ee cummings
i carry your heart with me(i carry it in

my heart)i am never without it(anywhere

i go you go,my dear;and whatever is done

by only me is your doing,my darling)

                                                      i fear

no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)i want

no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true)

and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant

and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows

(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud

and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows

higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)

and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)

Dreams for My Loves
Dreams for My Loves
By Lola Colette

I want them to know
that although life can be hard
It’s also
incredible and amazing.
that although they may have doubts
they, too, are
incredible and amazing.
I want them to know
that they may not understand
how powerful words can be,
once they unlock the meaning,
they, too, become
powerful and understood.
I want them to know
that they have have captured
my heart
and we will always be
connected.

The tree in my backyard
The tree in my backyard
Nature Poem
By Matthew

The tree in my backyard
Dances with the wind
The tree in my backyard
The one I climbed as a kid

The tree in my backyard
Houses a family of sparrows
I dont know how they fit
When there door is so narrow

The tree in my backyard
So bare in the winter
Yet he always gives me a splinter

The tree in my backyard
Shaped crooked like a V
The tree is where I
Can be anybody

Now when I leave
I leave something behind
A branch engraved with the simple word mine

Tulips
Tulips
By Mercedes
     Wide varieties of colors,
There isn't no other,
           Tulips.
Spring has come with Easter,
They have an amazing feature,
              Tulips.
God gave us beautiful flowers,
Though it didn't take hours,
one word " Tulips " and they appeared.
                 Tulips.

We're Not All Perfect.
By:Jaedyn

We're not all perfect.
         But we can always improve.
We're not all perfect.
And no one will ever be.
We're not all perfect.
          But in our own way.
We're not all perfect.
          Don't be ashamed.
We're not all perfect.
          Its just how it goes.
We're not all perfect.
But to someone out there we are.
