The film is an action, comedy genre but it can also be seen as a thriller and romance film by some viewers of its audience.
The film is aimed at a young audience from the ages 17 - 34 years old, Characters such as, Negasonic teenage Warhead is a young teenager who the audience can relate to. Also the characters like Wade and Vanessa are slightly older which would appeal to the older end of the market.
Deadpool  is mainly targeted at males rather  than females. For example the story follows a male character reasons why there are more males than females in the film.
Deadpool shows a conventional male and female relationship which would attract a heterosexual audience. The film shows a lot sexual scenes between a man and a women.
A niche film is aimed at a small audience. Originally Deadpool was going to be aimed at a small audience however it gained the views of larger audience making it a mainstream film. Mainstream films are more popular than niche films due to the fact that they have a big budget and marketing campaign as well as big stars so therefore it will entice  a bigger audience.
Deadpool would appeal to a mainstream audience because famous movie stars are apart of the film for example Ryan Reynolds is the main character and he has been involved in many mainstream films such as Green Lantern, X-men Origins Wolverine and The Proposal.
Mainstream films attract more viewers due to the way it has been filmed for example, Marvel are the producers of Deadpool which means a lot of money has been invested into the film which allows it to have amazing content. CGI is used which makes it engaging also the film has enough studio space to film in and the locations that the film is set in makes it attracting. If you was to compare Deadpool to a film that is not mainstream it would not appeal or attract a wide audience. For example independent films that do not have well known actors/actresses would be targeted at a niche market. Independent films compared to mainstream films have a lower budget, there would not be a good use of studio space due to the budget also it would be filmed and set in one location. Deadpool is an American film an because of how big American films are wherever the films are set will always attract viewers globally. People who live in western countries would be the main viewers.
Deadpool made $363,070,709.  This shows that the film was popular. This data is quantitative because it is using figures. From these figures show how much money they can make, which could be put into a chart in order to be compared and contrasted  by others. Qualitative Data is data which allows people to express there opinions. For example the producers of marvel could do test screenings and get the opinions of potential audiences by doing focus groups. The benefits of people expressing there opinions allows producers to know what people specifically want to see. The negatives about carrying out a focus group is that people may not be truthful with their opinions. 
VALS stand for Values Attitudes and life style. This Gives us the idea about the consumer habits of the audience. The audience for Deadpool would likely be Experiencers and survivors. Experiencers would be young people, who are interested in spending money and having a good time. Deadpool would be a good film for this VALS category because it is something fun to watch and this group of people like to go out and have fun as they live a quick paced lifestyle.
The majority of the cast in Deadpool is Caucasian. This shows that the film is aimed at Caucasians. The font stands out which grabs the target audience. Also the style of the font is edgy which represents the genre of the movie which is action. The edgy font would interest people who are into action films. 
The poster is minimal which is good as it will appeal to the target audience more. For example the film is targeted at a young audience more than a elderly audience so by having less on the page young people would attracted to it immediately as it is simple. However if the poster had a lot on the page young people would not be as interested because there would be to much going on, for example if there was to much writing a young audience would not be interested in reading what the film would be about, where as there being less writing it is more engaging and easier to understand.  The colour red is used a lot on the poster. DeadPool is represented by the colour red reasons why it is one of the primary colour on the poster. The colour symbolises  danger, blood and death as well as love and romance. The film is an action film so there is a lot of fighting and death which is represented by the colour red. The film also involves love and romance which is also being represented through the colour red. Black is also used which has a similar representation to the colour red. The colour shows the dark and evil side of the film which would appeal to the target audience who are interested in superheros. The colour white is used for the background. The colour white represents the image of DeadPool. DeadPool is a superhero who is a good guy, he stands behind a white background to represent the type of character he is. The colour white balances the good and the bad in the film.  There is a bit of pink on the poster which is shown on the back pack. The film trailer  shows certain scenes that would appeal to females and males. For example, at the beginning of the trailer it shows that there will be love and romance in the film. You see the main character who is in a relationship This would appeal to both males and females however a female audience may be more attracted to seeing love and relationships. Love is stereotyped to be attracted by females more than males reason why the romance scene would gain a female audience as well  because it would show the soft side of the film. Also violence would attract young males around the ages of 16-21 more due to the way they think violence may not seem to serious to them it would be more fun and entertaining however older males would understand the seriousness to the scenes and would have a mature perspective. The action scenes also make the film look entertaining and for anyone who is into action would be drawn to the film just by watching the trailer. Action and violet films are targeted at males mainly because males are more represented as the ones who are the main perpetrators of crime whereas females are seen to be the victims.  There are also some sexual scenes and nudity as well as male humor which is also intended to grab the attention of a males audience. For example the scenes that are shown in the trailer share some male humor which shows who the filmmakers are trying to intend the film at also it shows the comedy side of the film for those who are interested in having a laugh they will no that the film is not just action and violence it also contains humour. Showing these scenes in the trailer gives the film a balance. The sexual scenes shown also provokes more of a male interest than female. The nudity and violence shown in the film has an affect on the BBFC's certification. Because of there are explicit scenes the film would not be appropriate for an audience younger than 15. The film portrays the female gender differently to the normal. The female characters played in the movie each have there own style which shows females in a different way. Deadpool's girlfriend is the first female that is introduced in the film, she has short brown hair and she also has tattoo's that give of a rough look. She has a strong personality in the film you see her defend herself while she is with her boyfriend (Ryan Reynolds).Females are not seen to be fierce or strong usually the guy is the one standing up for the girl however in the movie the females are able to stand up for there selves. Also the girlfriend does not live the normal lifestyle as every women as she works at a night club where she is constantly around males and she is working a job in the night rather than the day. Her character is very strong she takes charge in her relationship and you can see her being dominant in the some of the sex scenes. The trailer would appeal to a secondary audience for example people who are into marvel comics and marvel movies would watch the movie as a secondary audience. They would be a target audience because marvel is the reason to why they have an interest in the movie.

Warhead is a teenage superhero, her role in the film breaks all the stereotypes of female superheroes. The way she looks is the first thing that breaks the image of a normal female superhero. For example she has a shaved head and she wears a nose ring, she does not have the look of a 'typical' female. She is also not sexualised like other female superhero. She is dressed in dark colours and she gives of the impression of a goth. She does not seem interested in many things as some teenagers would, she has a not bothered attitude, she does not seem to care about the male characters that surround her. She is also a very strong character for a young superhero she does not have fear in her and you can tell by her actions. She is Ajax's sidekick in the movie and she has to do what she is told by the males around her this represents the normal stereotypes of females however she is still a strong character she has the ability to fight and not give in or be weak. she gives off the impression of not caring and she would fight males as well as females. The females in the film are portrayed differently to the image of females in general however one of the male character also shows a different representation of a male. For example Colossal shows a level of respect towards the females in the film. You don't see him sexualise females the way most men do in movies. Throughout the film you see that Colossals character has a heart and he is very protective. Before he got into a fight with Angel dust towards the end of the film he said to angel dust that he wont hit a woman however when she punched him he had no choice to fight her. He also made it clear in the film that he has respect for females when he was fighting Angel Dust and her top fell of a bit and her boobs where on show as soon as he saw he covered his eyes and told her respectfully to pull up her top. Guys are always represented as being physically attracted to women and they will be fascinated when a female is exposed however Colassals character does not have the role of a typical male. He has a protective dad role in the film, one of the scenes Deadpool swears and he said ''Language please'' him saying that shows that he does not encourage bad language and he is trying to guide Deadpool by confronting him. Colossals character does not convey a arrogant person, at the end of the film he did a speech about being a hero so Deadpool does not kill his rival. By his speech you see him being soft and you can see that males do have a hearts and care towards others which is not normally seen in males. The stereotypical male has to much ego and cant drop their pride however Colossal does not show an aggressive person that has a lot of pride. 
 Deadpool does not represent gender in a stereotypical way which is a good thing as the film breaks the normal idea of how males or females should be.
