An adaptation of the Dictado. Teacher reads a short story (a paragraph) to students (it is pretty fast) and the students pretend they are the "secretaria" and the teacher is the "jefe" dictating to them. They have to copy it down as quickly as they can. Once they are done, they work in trios to collectively make one "better" version. During this time they discuss punctuation, order of words, spelling, punctuation, grammar, etc. They also have to come up with the moral of the story. They turn in their paper and the teacher reads them allowed as they are written. If the student left out the proper punctuation like periods, the teacher reads it very fast. The teacher and students orally give feedback about each paragraph submitted (what they need to change to have it be a 10).

During our first grade class observation students had multiple letter cutout and a sentence to complete on the board. The students would work as a table to complete the sentences con mayúsculas in the right place and minúsculas in the right place as well. The students had a strip of paper to act as ‘espacios’ in their sentence. They would correct themselves and work collaboratively to complete the sentence correctly and then organize it correctly on the board.

One thing that I observed in the first grade class I was in was the questing cube. Every student has a cube that looked like was make at home as homework and each face on that cube had comprehension questions. The way that they used this cube was once they were done reading a story the teacher would call out a student to toss their cube. She would have the student read the question and everyone would have to answer it. I really liked this idea because all the kids were engaged.

One student read the first sentence of the text. When he finished the first sentence, all of the students started choral reading the second sentence. As they read, students stopped reading (when they reached a difficult word, for example) until just one student was reading. That student read until the end of the second sentence. Then, for the third sentence, students read chorally and the process continued.
