With these properties, nuts are a food ingredient that does not raise bad cholesterol. In addition, the structure of the beta-Sitosterol fatty acid in the blood to reduce the level of bad cholesterol (LDL) and good cholesterol (HDL) levels contribute to a serious increase.

To learn more about foods with the highest cholesterol content, click here.

It protects the cardiovascular health: the bad cholesterol level in the blood is high for the progression of heart and vascular diseases. Therefore, lowering bad cholesterol levels is very important for our cardiovascular health. Nuts are very effective and beneficial in lowering bad cholesterol levels. However, the contribution of hazelnut to heart health is not that much. Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant in the structure of hazelnut and is very useful in the removal of toxic substances in the blood. Toxic substances in the blood may accumulate over time and cause vascular congestion. Potassium minerali, found in the structure of hazelnuts in the protection of cardiovascular health, also contributes significantly. Calcium, potassium, has several benefits. Vasodilator potassium checkers in one of them (bulking) effect, lowers blood pressure and prevents hypertension, heart and blood vessels work more comfortable with the expansion of the heart valves and the risk of heart attack is reduced. Another positive effect of potassium takes important roles in balancing electrolyte levels in the blood. Maintaining electrolyte balance reduces the risk of arrhythmia and irregular heartbeat. Bees swallow the special honey stomach in their nectar bodies at the core of all flowers and fruit buds in the region during the spring and summer season. In this special stomach of bees, nectar is replaced by invertase enzyme and the honey is transformed into honey and the bees fill this honey in honeycomb and make it reach us. It is one of the most valuable nutrients produced by animals on Earth. The fact that it is very valuable is of course because of the benefit it has provided to our body, but it is due to the fact that it is useful and valuable and that its chemical structure is constantly changing. The chemical structure of honey varies in every country, every region, every hive and even every pet. This difference stems from the fact that the plants and flowers in the regions where bees are located are different and that each bee collects different amounts of nectar from each flower. This change in chemical structure makes Honey unique and special as a food ingredient. Thanks to this feature, it is an irresistible enemy for many microorganisms.

Due to this natural variability in the chemical structure of honey, it is difficult to give a precise figure on the number of honey species on Earth. For this reason, many honey varieties are commonly called flower honey. In addition, there are some important honey varieties known in our country and in the world.;

Honey, pine honey, Karakovan Honey, chestnut honey, mad honey, Akasya honey, thyme honey, flower honey, sunflower honey, alfalfa honey, karabukday honey, orange blossom honey etc.

We said that the chemical structure of honey varies according to the type of honey, the region where bees are located, and the type of flower in which they are located. Essentially, the variability in the chemical structure is only valid for 1% (average). Although the structure of each honey is different, on average 82% of all honey varieties are carbonhydrate (glucose, saccharose, fructose, maltose, galactose, etc.).), 17% of water and 1% consists of vitamins, minerals and other chemicals. And honey which makes it unique for human health which are most important vitamins, minerals and other chemical substances that generates 1% Section. This 1% portion of honey's structure is stored in sensory properties such as taste, aroma, color, antioxidant, antiseptic and antibacterial properties.

Natural sweetener properties: if you have a habit of consuming foods with high sugar content, and especially if you drink liquids such as tea, coffee, and sugar, you can use honey instead of sugar. When you use honey to sweeten your drinks, you may find it strange to taste your drink at first, but keep in mind that it will be much healthier to use sugar. Artificial sweeteners such as saccharin, aspartame can cause some problems in the stomach over time. The use of white sugar increases the risk of diabetes over time, but as honey is used as a sweetener, as long as it is not consumed too much during the day, it should not be forgotten that it is the most healthy sweetener.

In ancient Rome, honey and figs were the most consumed foodstuffs in order to meet the energy needs of the soldiers, and to meet the urgent energy needs of the Olympic Athletes during the ancient Greek era. In honey, glucose, fructose and other types of sugar are naturally present and alone (not in compound form). Because of this feature, honey is absorbed very quickly from our intestines and is used in the production of energy in our cells. When the body needs urgent energy, consuming honey instead of consuming sugary foods is a much healthier way to get energy. For example, consuming a small amount of honey instead of consuming sugar and chocolate during the exam allows the brain to meet its energy needs faster.

Antioxidants, antimicrobial, antiseptic, Antifungal properties: vitamins, minerals and other chemicals are the most important part for our health and constitute 1% of the sugars and water. Antioxidant substances in the structure of toxic substances (free radicals) in our bodies by helping to remove the natural detox. Antimicrobial agents help to destroy harmful microorganisms in our bodies, antiseptic agents help to clean wounds in our bodies and heal faster, antifungal agents help to destroy harmful fungi in our bodies. These properties of honey help strengthen our immune system.

Strengthens the immune system: naturally found in the structure of antioxidants, antimicrobial, antiseptic, antifungal, etc. substances and vitamins and minerals are always supported by our immune system to work well. These substances support our immune system and also contribute to the production of substances that are necessary for our immune system to fight microbes. When Honey is consumed regularly, it ensures that our immune system is always at the highest level to resist any microbial threat. In addition to these features, it is a probiotic feature in support of the survival and proliferation of friendly bacteria that are necessary for our body. Support to the immune system is high against allergic reactions. It helps our immune system in reducing allergic reactions caused by flower pollen especially in spring months.

Healing wounds and burns on the skin: scientific studies have shown that the structure of honey is naturally hydrogen peroxide. Hydrogen peroxide is an antiseptic substance used in the killing of microbes and cleaning of wounds in the medical field. The natural hydrogen peroxide in honey's structure is of a much superior quality than the one used in medicine. It is very effective to apply honey to the skin so that it can heal quickly and easily. This method is used for centuries from Ancient Egypt, Ancient Rome, ancient Greek and Chinese traditional medicine. When applied on the wound, it helps to prevent bacteria growth and infection, and helps to reduce damage to the skin cells and heal the wound faster.

The most important support honey for the digestive system is that it helps the body to produce digestive enzymes that it needs. This feature helps maintain the normal working order of our digestive system. In the case of regular honey consumption, antimicrobial, antifungal and antiseptic properties can prevent bacterial borne diseases in the intestines. Honey lemon is consumed along with some scientific studies, in cases where a balancing of stomach acid, Irritable (irritable bowel syndrome and Crohn's disease has agreed to conclude that it is good for.

In recent research conducted at the Copenhagen University, it was found that when the doctors treated their patients with a mixture of one tablespoon honey and half teaspoon cinnamon powder before breakfast, they found that within a week, out of the 200 people so treated, practically 73 patients were totally relieved of pain, and within a month, mostly all the patients who could Some sources also suggest that it prevents hardening of the arteries and reduces the risk of heart attack, but scientific studies have not yet been done on this subject.

It regulates the blood sugar level: honey is a food ingredient that has 82% (average) carbohydrate (sugar) in its structure. 50% of the sugar in the structure fructose, 43% consists of glycos. When we look at the glycemic index (GI) values that show the effect of sugar and honey on diabetes, we see that the glycemic index of powder sugar is 100 units, 20 units of fructose and 61 units of honey. When compared with the glucose and fructose found in most foods, honey raises blood sugar level by less than glucose, whereas fructose raises more by more than glucose. This is the meaning of; people whose blood sugar levels are lower than 120 and 120 can safely use honey as a sweetener provided that they do not overdo it. The fructose and glucose in honey in the structure will help stabilize blood sugar, but limiting the consumption of honey in people with blood sugar levels above 120 and above 120 will be more appropriate for diabetics to not progress further.

ADNAN HADİYE SÜRMEGÖZ SECONDARY SCHOOL KONYA

                                          ALİ
