Originally, our group consisted of 3 members and the third member was informed that he would be able to finish his second semester first before retaking his first semester subjects as he failed some of the subjects from the first semester. Halfway through the second semester, he was informed that he had to retake the first semester before doing the second semester despite him being in the second semester for almost 2 months. That led to me and my group mate to have insufficient group members as the minimum requirement for this group assignment is 3 members. We were forced to find another group member and we eventually did find one. However, halfway through doing our assignment, the group member that we were able to recruit unfortunately dropped the course and that left us with having insufficient group members again. I proceeded to inform our lecturer about this problem that we are facing and she was kind enough to allow us to proceed with our work with just 2 members in our group. Having only one group mate in my group had taught me many skills and made me develop many capabilities.

Throughout this assignment, I had to work with my group mate by sharing ideas and helping her when she doesn’t understand a particular part of the assignment. This led me to understand team dynamics much better. As a result of having only 1 group member, I was taught to accept my member’s ideas and we try our very best to input as much information as we can to our research paper which is titled “Pollution is Killing Animals”. “A single idea from the human mind can build cities. An idea can transform the world and rewrite all the rules.”- Cobb, Inception. The process of creating our research paper has taught me to work together in a group and appreciation all ideas contributed by my group member rather than rejecting them.

When having a discussion about our research paper, we had to communicate with one another to contribute our ideas and give our opinions. On account of this, my communication skills have improved a lot. This is a skill that is very crucial because communication is the key to any success.

Being a student, I also have other assignments that need to be done. So, I had to manage my time systematically to make sure that I was able to complete all my assignments in time before the due date. Being the group leader of this group assignment, I had to take responsibility when my group member is facing difficulties when doing the work. Whenever she needs help, I will try my best to assist her to ensure that our research paper is done with quality.

Honestly, I enjoyed doing this assignment with my group mate as we worked together and remain strong even when the odds are against us and most importantly because it taught me many skills which could come in handy in the future when I am working.
