Promoting gender equality is crucial to accelerating sustainable development. Ending all forms of discrimination is not only a basic human right, it affects all other SDGs too. According to most studies, countries that are the most gender equal are also the countries that score highest on happiness scale.

The workplace has sometimes labeled an inhospitable area for women because of the many aspect of gender inequality that exist. Some examples of how discrimination in the workplace negatively affects women's earnings and opportunities are gender pay gaps. In other words, discrimination in the workplace leads to a lower socio-economic status for women. Both the quantitative drawbacks of lower pay, prestige, and job opportunities and the stigmatized subjective experience impact the psychological and physical stress, mental and physical health of women. It is shown that people draw on Western, individualistic countries research conducted between the mid-1980s and the mid-2010s, which may not generalize to other countries or time frames. However, this model stems from research conducted mainly in male-dominated industries . This is because gender discrimination and harassment against women is more prevalent in men-dominated environments.

Gender inequality acknowledges that men and women are not equal and that gender affects an individual's living experience. These differences arise from distinctions in biology, psychology, and cultural norms. People who have been suffered from violance due to their sex have often ended their lives by commiting cuicide.

Changemaker: Lindsay Amer, the creator of "Queer Kid Stuff," an educational video series that breaks down complex ideas around gender and sexuality through songs and metaphors, claim that Identifying gender equality is normal for to full room of adults but it is difficult to identify it to do it to full room of kinder gardens. Amer also mention that people need to teach kinder gardens about gender and sexuality from their view to be more effective.

According to The World University Rankings data; despite the fact that many schools in our country are on the list, unfourtunately Sabancı University could not be in the top 100, the list of importance given to gender equality. Looking at the list, we have seen that our school is doing inadequate studies on gender equality. In order to solve this problem, we thought that gender quality courses should be given in our school and students should make presentations about this subject to the schools in Tuzla and surrounding areas at the end of the semester. With this new system, we hope that both the awareness in our school increases and the violence rates in Tuzla can be reduced.
