Explanation/Analysis: The helpers are just as heroic and brave as the men fighting in the war. Their kindness is shown when they spend time with everyone in the “Secret Annex” and try to entertain them. They are very thoughtful and bring gifts for birthdays and help with celebrations. Putting on a smile makes them just as much of a hero as shooting a pistol.

    In her diary Anne Frank always uses a strong list of vocabulary and also very good imagery describing where she is, like the events going in and around the Annex in very good detail and what is around her. Anne also uses very descriptive words, which helps the reader better understand how bad the people were, and uses lots of emotions while writing by using exclamation points

Although the helpers are probably having a hard time staying positive they don’t show it around the Annexe because they know that Anne and them have it worse.

    • Imagine that you were running a marathon. This is what Anne Frank is saying, that you must not give up and keep a strong mindset if you wish to keep that zest for living and hope for the future.
