"So the changes that happen between 18 and 25 are a continuation of the process that starts around puberty, and 18 year olds are about halfway through that process. Their prefrontal cortex is not yet fully developed. That's the part of the brain that helps you to inhibit impulses and to plan and organize your behavior to reach a goal" (Aamodt).

"So, for instance, a 20 year old is 50 percent more likely to do something risky if two friends are watching than if he's alone" (Aamodt).

My thoughts of this article are that it was very fascinating to the scientific reasoning behind the brain. When the brain develops and how being 18 doesn't actually make you a full grown adult.

Justyce turns 18 in the book Dear Martin. As a so-called adult he has to go to court and do adulating, even though Justyce's brain isn't fully grown and mature.

For newer arrivals, its about "creating a display of affluence," she said. For a second or third generation Latino Americans, the quinceañera has become a way to reclaim traditions with which they've lost touch.

My favorite part of the quinceanera is when they switch the shoes because it symbolizes women hood and becoming an adult.

The article links to the book Dear Martin because the way a 15 year old girl gets ready for women hood/adult hood. Justyce is turning 18 which is when you become an adult legally and they both have to go through becoming an adult.

In the article "What Can You Do At 18 Legally" by The Law Dictionary the article exemplifies different things you can do once you turn 18. Most things you can do require common sense and maturity including, adopting, working a full time job, purchasing homes, cars, and more. 18 is just a number that doesn't mean you are responsible enough to do a lot of big and mature things. Especially if your brain isn't fully developed yet.
