The Weeping Woman is the cubism painting by Picasso which might be the most influencing art in the modern age. It consists of an abstract expression and the strong structure. In contrast, The Albatross is one of Chris Jordan’s documentary photographs, which is an ongoing project focused on unconcious behaviors. These two pieces of art are completely different genres since Picasso used oil on canvas, while Jordan used a picture in digital. The Weeping Woman is more abstract than The Albatross, however, both of them contain important massages, such as the deep reality and mass consumption.
FEEDBACK
A very good piece of writing. Although it's short, you have included language for comparing and contrasting. You also included good vocabulary we studied in class. Good collaboration. Please have a look at your mistakes, which are highlighted in the text. Can you correct them?

“The Weeping Woman” is an oil painting by Picasso, created in 1937 during the Cubism period. It represents a woman in an emotional state, expressed in colourful and vibrant brushstrokes.
In 2009, Chris Jordan went to the Midway Island in the North Pacific to capture photographs of albatrosses affected by the devastating impacts of plastic in our oceans. This specific horrendous, pale colored and up-close photograph contains a dead albatross and its insides.

The biggest difference between the two pictures is that “The Weeping Woman” is a painting while “Albatross” is a photograph. Although they both bring out emotions within the spectator, Jordan’s work evokes anger and frustration whereas Picasso’s painting generates a certain feeling of compassion for the woman’s struggle. Also the works differ in their messages. The photography of Jordan was intended to raise awareness of the consequences of our unconscious behaviours such as mass consumption and our environmental footprint. The message of “The Weeping Woman” is rather to expose women as “suffering machines”, reminding us about the deep reality of their fragility.

Picasso’s piece is not as easily relative as Jordan’s. It’s an old-fashioned way of perceiving women as fragile beings, especially since we are living in an era where women are united and empowered. However, “Albatross” makes us reflect about the ongoing issue that we all contribute to in a negative way by our actions and way of living. Therefore, according to us, Chris Jordan’s “Albatross” is the most powerful and meaningful piece.

The Weeping Woman was painted by Picasso in 1937 which is oil on canvas. It shows extreme sadness using vibrant and outstanding colors with cube shape. On the other hand, the albatross is a realistic picture taken by Chris Jordan who is political photographer based on Seattle. His art is mainly about confront issues such as mass consumption and unconscious behaviors.

The Weeping Women gives emotional stress to audiences using cube shape, vivid color, strong and sharp lines. In contrast, the Albatross is absolutely different from the Weeping Women. The Weeping Woman painted by Picasso focused on abstract whereas Chris Jordan would like to describe about political issues, global pollution and animal population. He used the waste product from human consumption to put in a new story by taking a picture. The Albatross photograph can increasing people awareness to the environment.

Compared these, the Weeping Woman could be more “artistic” as for fun unlike the albatross which shows shock and horror of the social reality. ..Although, these two works focus on completely different topics, both give us a great impact in terms of composition and extraordinary situation.
