The first Genre is my book review of "Romeo and Juliet" by William Shakespeare. Romeo and Juliet is a tragic love story about two characters, Romeo and Juliet, who are from opposing families and fall in love. The families, the Capulets and Montasques have ongoing conflict, preventing Romeo and Juliet from being together. In Act 3, Scene 5 Lord Capulet says "An you be mine, Ill give you to my friend; An you be not, hang, beg, starve, die in the streets, For, by my soul, Ill neer acknowledge thee, Nor what is mine shall never do thee good: Trust tot, bethink you; Ill not be forsworn." Lord Capulet threatens to disown Juliet if she marries Romeo. This shows how much their families don't want them together. Romeo and Juliet make a series of decisions and go against their families just because they love each other. Overall, these choices lead to their fate. This story has you gripping on the edge of your seat because of the variety of emotions portrayed. There is anger, love, hatred, regret and sadness. Throughout the fights, the secrecy, the forbidden love, the comedy, and at the end the death, readers will be thinking about this book for days. I believe that this might be the greatest tragic/love story of all time.

#2 Analyze Song Lyrics

The next genre I picked is to analyze song lyrics. I am analyzing the chorus of "Torn" by Letoya Luckett. In this song it is talking about how the girl really wants to be with this guy, but knows she shouldn't. She doesn't know whether or not to make the choice to leave him alone or not. This relates to Romeo and Juliet because Juliet knows that falling in love with Romeo is wrong because of their family. Their families have always been in a feud. Although Juliet and Romeo fell in love at first sight and will do anything to be together, they have to make the choice to be disloyal to their families and be together. In Act 1, Scene 5 Juliet says "My only love sprung from my only hate! Too early seen unknown, and known too late! Prodigious birth of love it is to me, That I must love a loathed enemy." She knows that Romeo is seen as an enemy, but still, loves him. Their relationship overall caused the Montagues and Capulets to come together in the end but initiated conflict in many instances.

The next genre I chose was a wanted poster for Tybalt. Tybalt is wanted for the death of Mercutio. Witnesses say that Tybalt was really trying to murder Romeo. Before the fight, Tybalt said, "Romeo, the love I bear thee can afford No better term than this: thou art a villain."(Act 3, Scene 1) Romeo tried to stay calm and keep Tybalt from fighting, but Tybalt was ready to fight. Mercutio decided to fight Tybalt instead of Romeo. Then laying on the floor Mercutio slowly dies. Romeo's choice to discard conflict between him and Tybalt eventually caused Mercutio's death. Romeo knows that his choices will continue to haunt him and he says "This day’s black fate on more days doth depend. This but begins the woe others must end." He is saying that this death will determine the future and more sorrow will be to come.

#4 Therapist note

I chose a therapist's note for this situation because Juliet is experiencing serious internal conflict. The plan to marry Romeo hit her and she realized how dangerous it actually is. Juliet is scared that the friar will poison the sleeping potion just so she won't marry Romeo. She is worried once she gets in the tomb she will wake up too early and suffocate. Or she will just not wake up at all. Juliet says in Act 4, Scene 3 "What if it be a poison which the friar subtly hath ministered to have me dead...Shall I not then be stifled in the vault, to whose foul mouth no healthsome air breathes in...So early waking-what with loathsome smells." Overall she is worried the plan won't work and in the end, she won't be able to be with Romeo. Juliet has to make the choice to trust the friar or to refuse. In the end, she takes the potion and she and Romeo die anyway. Her fears didn't come true, but it still ended in her fate.

#5 Text Message

The last genre is a text message between Mercutio and Romeo. Before Mercutios death, he was a friend of Romeo's who kept him in line. Romeo is a very lovestruck person who falls in love very easily based on looks. Mercutio always jokily mocks Romeo for his poor choices of women. In Act 2, Scene 4m Mercutio says "Why, is not this better now than groaning for love? Now art thou sociable, now art thou Romeo; now art thou what art, but art as well as by nature." Mercutio tells Romeo that his love for Juliet is foolish and childish. He mocks Romeo's lovestruck behavior. I chose the text message to show how fast Romeo changes his choice of women. When he first met Juliet, he fell in love at "first sight". He had never talked to her or even known what she was like. This profound love ultimately ended very badly. Even at first, it started more conflict between the Capulets and Montagues. His choice to long for Juliet largely affected his fate in the end.
