"When you educate a man, you educate an individual but when you educate a women, you educate a nation" is a proverb that was used in the eve of the opening of the 69th session of the UN General Assembly. The proverb holds true because an educated woman is better able to educate her own children who, in turn, will be more likely to receive school education themselves. An educated woman’s household is more likely to prosper as a result of a higher overall income. Just one extra year of secondary education can increase a woman’s income as much as 25% a year.

62 million girls around the world are not in school. 100 million girls are projected to be child brides over the next ten years.
70% of the poorest people around the world are women.

Well, these are some of the distressing figures that portray the tragic reality of some girls around the world. Education is nothing less than a dream for these ill-fated individuals.

Personally, what I find unintelligible is that if people love to have a mother, sister, wife and even a girlfriend; why do they consider a daughter as a liability?

Well maybe a further introspection into some of the mindset and customs of the orthodox societies around the world may give you the answer. The society's paradigm or of a women would be a wife who is very obedient to her husband, a dutiful mother and a house oriented person. Aha! we are nearing the answer to our question. If this is what a girl is supposed to do in the future, then why do we need to waste money on her education? That money can instead be spent for her dowry. Mind you, these aren't
my views but of those of the patriarchal society that is still prevalent in many parts of the world. This would be abhorrent for any individual who has even an iota of humanity in him/her.

The case studies and statistics that explain the predicament of girls are endless and all we can do is pity but pity won't change anything. It is time that we pull our socks and fight against this inequality.

Lets take a look at some recent initiatives taken by the governments of different countries for educating the girl child.

The Beti Bachao Beti Padhao(BBBP) scheme was launched in India by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 22nd January 2015 to generate awareness and to improve welfare the efficiency of welfare services such as education intended for girls. Soon in the social media there was the hashtag #SelfieWithDaughter that garnered world wide fame. Indian Olympic bronze-medallist Sakshi Mali and bollywood actress Parineeti Chopra are some of the brand ambassadors of this scheme.

Let Girls Learn is a U.S. government initiative that helps adolescent girls attain a quality education. Educating girls is essential to healthy and thriving communities. However 98 million girls worldwide are not in school, and barriers to adolescent girls’ education continue to persist. All girls should have the opportunity to gain the skills, knowledge and confidence to break the cycle of poverty, raise healthier families, and help build their communities.

The education of a girl child must be further prioritized by everyone as it is an indispensable factor for the growth of a nation and a better tomorrow. Give her the freedom and you will witness her scale unassailable heights.

I conclude by quoting the prime minister of Norway Erna Solberg

" When you educate a girl, she feed herself, her children and her nation"

According to the Illustrated Oxford Dictionary, education is a form of systematic instruction, or the development of charcter or mental power.

While the original definition of the term 'education' is very short and precise, many people have their definition for it; some based on the age of the student and others on the gender. If a young child is being educated, some call the parents irresponsible as they are "neglecting" the child by sending him/her to school instead of taking care of the child, while others see the parents as very dedicated human beings who want nothing but the best for their child; If an old child is being educated, some call the parents irresponsible as they have neglected their child for too long and have realised their mistake far too late, while others see the parents as those who have realised their mistakes and believes that it's better late than never. Now, in all the stuations mentioned above, 50% of the people agree while the other 50% disagree (give or take 5-10%).

Now, when one defines education on the basis of gender, most people in the modern world believe that it is necessary to educate children from both the male and female fraternity, a large amount of stereotypes still disagree,i.e., they still believe the sole purpose of women is take takimg care of the house and to reproduce. While both can be considered true, even a man can take care of things such as the house and the family. Now, considering the fact that a major portion of the world's women are house wives, most people would think such families are a typical example of stereotypical thinking. A majority of these women are at homeso that they can help their children with studying, and care take of the house so that the husband and child can completely concentrate on their work. Again. The above lines sound as though the women are "compelled" to do this (which may be true in a few cases), most women do this out of sheer dedication and to make sure their family works like a "well oiled machine" (as some might put it).

One of the main things which hold back countries like India are the stereotypes who think education of those in the female fraternity is a complete waste of time and money. If such people changed their views on girl education, a lot more people would be working for the wellfare of the country, which in turn would increase the revnue, thus help in paving the way to India being one of the most developed countries in the world.

"Girl's education is the single best investment that any society can make"
- Carol Bellamy; the Chair of the Board of the Global Community Engagement and Resilience Fund.

Education is the process of receiving or giving systematic instruction, especially at a school or university.
Education is vital for ensuring better quality of life for the generations and generations yet to come, a situation that might just never be a reality if girls aren't going to be educated.
Many families have their minds set on the fact that the girl child, one day or another, will get married and shall begin to stay away from her family, and educating them is something that will not give that family "advantage" and thus the act begins to seem like a wastage of money, one of the reasons for why many girls dream about their education, a dream they know will never come true.

However, what they miss to recognize is that the girl child yields spectacular social benefits periodically. This educated girl child may get married sooner but they end up with healthier children. They are aware of their surroundings and play important roles in the society. They become more productive at home and better paid in the workplace .By knowing the benefits, these educated parents will get their children educated! These children will be better nourished, and better educated, giving them an advantage not many are able to get.

I would like to conclude by quoting the famous American journalist, Sydney D. Harris...
"The whole purpose education of the girl child is to turn mirrors into windows"

Education is equally important to both the genders but the society prefers women's education as something not necessary because once they get married and go to an other family, their duty becomes to maintain the house and take care of kids. But today, times are different educating a girl child is as important as educating a boy child because girls are also no less than boys. Today, women's progress in each and every field is significant. When you educate a girl, you educate the whole nation by changing their mindset. I remember seeing an advertisement where the daughters of a father were continuing his sweet shop business which is very unlikely to be seen as we think the son of the father will continue his dad's business. Therefore this changes the thinking of the people due to which the nation develops by educating a girl child. I conclude by saying that educat

Education is very important for every child whether boy or girl. It is pessimistic that some communities still discriminate against the education of the girl child. About 57million children around the world are not going to school “If we educate a boy, we educate one person. If we educate a girl, we educate a family – and a whole nation.” By sending a girl to school, she is far more likely to ensure that her children also receive an education. As many claim, investing in a girl’s education is investing in a nation.
In the nineteenth century, there was girl’s education only for some household use. But nowadays it becomes essential for the girl’s education. There should be the improvement of role and status of women, and then the country will grow up. There should not be any comparison among the boys and girls education. They should have the education which is the rights of the girls. Consequently, they are essential for the developing country.
"One child, one teacher, one pen and one book can change the world. Education is the only solution. Education first."
I would conclude this clause by suggesting that we should join hands and support education for all boys and girls. No one should be left out.

Education is a necessity in keeping a civilization.....civilised.
It is the source of knowledge and undrstanding, which helps us in our day to day lives, or even in the long run of our lifetimes.
Therefore, all children require education to enable them to survive in this modern world, and that includes boys and girls.
In many countries, where tradition is the driving force behind development, education of the girl child is swept under the rug, as many cultures empower th male, and neglect the female, mostly for their physical nature. Surprisingly, this neglection spreads even to educating them, and this is a major drawback in the human society. Since the only thing that differentiates a man and a woman is their physical nature, both have equal brrain power, and thus, both have the right to education. So, in today's world, we must flip this rug and show how important it is to educate the GIRL CHILD!!!

Depriving the girl population(about half) of education ensures a bleak future for the human race. A common misconception is that people think that girls and women are needed only for domestic chores. This stereotype must be demolished for society to prosper. People must understand that women can play an important role in the development of the country.
A woman can add to the total income generated a house
