The classical music station for the most part plays highly renowned western artists like Hyden, Bach and Beethoven. Everything included on the station seems to be within the western canon of classical music, as there are no modern compositions or anything straying from the classical music countries of western Europe. There is a lot of Bach and Mozart as expected, but there was also pieces by Schubert, Chopin and Debussy. As UNT is widely regarded as a music school, there are plenty of examples of the western canon on campus. We even have a Mozart hall. You can see students rushing from practice room to classroom with their instruments and many even stop in parks to practice between classes. The presence of the western canon seems to preside over the musical community of this campus in classes and on weekends. In this padlet I explore the idea of the westren canon through the campus and the reading of "If History Is Written by the Victors" by Sara Haefeli.
