We got onto the topic of dogs being used for therapy and how it can make such a huge difference in a child's life. This got me thinking about our mental health and how pets can be a positive influence in our lives. 
I bought my own dog and around the same time went through some very heavy personal issues and I think if it wasn't for him I wouldn't have gotten out of bed each day and actually tried to feel better, like going for a walk or getting outside to play in the park.

I have come across studies that show dogs being used in classrooms to help kids with their stuttering by having a dog to read to instead of in front if their class, which is embarrassing and can be frustrating for them.
