Frontal Lobe

The frontal lobe is all about sending and receiving information. That's why a strong frontal lobe means for a strong ability to focus, organized, and self-monitored. What happens when the frontal lobe is weak? More unclear signals from the other parts of the brain won't be able to communicate as well as the others. This leads to issues with comprehending, processing, and memory. In fact, there is an area in the frontal lobe called Broca's Area where comprehension and finding words are heavily affected if this part is weakened, and the video below goes more in-depth over this.

Next, we have the temporal lobe. This part of the brain that receives auditory input and then stores it. In it is Wernicke's Area where words are comprehended. The above video goes a little bit into what can happen when this area is weaken. Overall when the temporal lobe is weak, it leads to complication with sounds and the inability to combine sounds together without difficultly.

If the temporal lobe deals in auditory inputs, then the occipital lobe is the portion that deals in visual inputs. An important area is the place where the brain take the image of written words and incorporate it with meaning from language. Because it is so heavily ingrained with vision, those with weak occipital lobes will have difficulties in recalling and recognizing letters and words. The infographic below has more information about other processes of the occipital lobe.

Finally, there is the parietal lobe. This is where the visual and auditory functions come together, and this is certainly true when it comes with language. This is why when this area is weak, people will have difficulties combining letters with sounds. In the end, this impacts decoding. The study that is linked to this is about finding whether or not the pariental lobe is even a language center to begin with. TLDR: it is.
