Explanation: This quote shows that Ruth(Mama) is strong because she is realizing that the world is changing and that money is a real problem in the family. She notices that freedom used to be life, and that "now it's money". Money is a big component in the family and it is something they all need. She is strong for being understanding at this fact and also brave for realizing that things are changing. Not many people are willing to look at the reality and accept it. I think she is a good person because of those traits that she has. Even though the family is going through rough times, she never fails to put a smile on her face and she is always hopeful for a good outcome. The colors used in this piece of artwork were cooler colors (blue, green, purple). These colors were used because Claude Monet (the artist of this painting) had cataracts and Monet's ambition of documenting the French countryside led him to adopt a method of painting the same scene many times in order to capture the changing of light and the passing of the seasons. The image shown is a painting of water lillies. This paining represents Ruth because she was very peaceful and hopeful, and  "white water lilies symbolize peace, purity, pleasure and spiritual enlightenment", according to a google article (www.witchipedia.com/herb:water-lily). The mood of this piece is calming, peaceful, and pure. This piece is from nature, and it relates to Ruth because she is a calm person who is full of hope.

One line is talking about how she taught her child how to dream, which is the theme of Raisin In The Sun. Ruth is very supportive of her children, and they are very appreciative of her. Their dreams play a big role in Raisin In The Sun because they are important to them and their goals make them who they are as characters.
