Şu anda çevresel farkındalık ve bilinç becerilerini geliştirmeyi amaçlayan "Doğa Besler: Dikkatli Zihinler, Yeşil Yarınlar" projesinin aktif bir üyesiyim. Bu projede, öğrencilerin doğaya duyarlı bireyler olarak büyümelerine katkıda bulunurken stres yönetimi becerilerini güçlendirmeyi amaçlıyoruz.

Eğitimde yenilikçi yaklaşımlara, yapay zeka destekli uygulamalara ve öğrenci merkezli etkinliklere değer veriyorum. Öğrencilerimin hem akademik hem de duygusal gelişimine katkıda bulunacak projelerde yer almaktan çok mutluyum. Bu projede, farklı ülkelerden öğrenci ve öğretmenlerle iş birliği yaparak daha bilinçli bir nesil yetiştirmeye katkıda bulunmayı hedefliyorum.

Doğayı, sakinliği ve anı yaşamayı seviyorum. 'Nature Nurtures: Mindful Minds, Greener Tomorrows' projesiyle hem kendimi geliştirmek hem de öğrencilerimle bu farkındalık yolculuğunu paylaşmayı sabırsızlıkla bekliyorum. Bu projede sizlerle iş birliği yapmak benim için büyük bir mutluluk olacak! :)

We are extremely excited to study with you at this project called “Nature nurtures : Mindful Minds and Greneer Tomorrows.”

There are 48 classrooms, 82 teachers and 1298 students in our school.

İbb Şair Erdem Bayazıt Ortaokulu İstanbul Başakşehir'de bulunmaktadır. Amacımız öğrencilerimizi Türk Milli Eğitimi'nin amaçları doğrultusunda çağın gerektirdiği yaratıcı ve üretken bireyler olarak yetiştirmek olan büyük bir okuldur.

Okulumuzda 48 derslik, 82 öğretmen ve 1298 öğrenci bulunmaktadır.

I am working as a teacher for the past 5 years and have experience in both formal and non-formal contexts.

Currently, residing in south East Creta working as a primary school teacher and manager at a remote school in a mountainous village with 4 students of 5th and 6th grade (11-12 y. o.).

My pupils leaving in this rural context are very much connected to nature, agriculture and the interlink between the environment and houman's wellbeing. This project will add up on their lived experiences and hopefully help them approach and develop their mindfulness.

The town of Ierapetra is located on the southeast coast of Crete, situated on the beach of Ierapetra Bay. This town lies south of Agios Nikolaos and southwest of Sitia, and is an important regional centre. With 17,710 inhabitants Ierapetra is the most populous town in the regional unit of Lasithi and the fourth most populous town in Crete. Ierapetra is nicknamed "the bride of the Libyan Sea" because of its position as the only town on Crete's southern coast.

The school has two classrooms, a teacher's office, a library room and a storeroom. It has a large and pleasant courtyard for children, as well as a playground

Students stayed outdoors, concentrated on 3 of their senses: hearing, feeling/touching and smelling. We were trying to keep our eyes closed and focus each time.

The yard felt different with tge eues closed. Students being proud of knowing most trees, with theirs eyes closed had a greater difficulty.

We did our environmental cleaning activity with our students, and we realized once again how beautiful nature is and how valuable it is to be protected.

We left there with excitement this evening to write our diaries. We felt our love for nature within ourselves.

Öğrencilerle birlikte bir mindfulness egzersizi yaptık. Egzersizin ardından öğrenciler o gün yaşadığı deneyimi yazarak mindfulness günlükleri tutmaya başladı. Daha sonra her öğrenci yazdıklarını kullanarak Canva'da birer pano hazırladı. Bu panolar, öğrencilerin deneyimlerini görsel olarak ifade etmelerini ve birbirleriyle paylaşmalarını sağladı.

Bugün öğrencilerimizle birlikte doğanın kucağında özel bir yolculuğa çıktık. Şehrin gürültüsünden uzak, toprağın ve ağaçların davetkâr sessizliğinde, nefesin gücünü keşfetmek için doğayı inceledik.

Yürüyüşümüz boyunca doğanın bize sunduğu harikaları fark ettik. Yol kenarında uzanan taşların şekillerini, ağaçların köklerinin nasıl birbirine dolandığını, mantarların gizemli dünyasını, dalların arasında süzülen kuşları gözlemledik. Her biri doğanın bize sunduğu birer hikâye gibiydi. Toprağı avuçladık, yaprakların arasından süzülen güneş ışığını izledik, rüzgârın ağaç dallarıyla fısıldaşmasına kulak verdik.

Tüm bu gözlemlerimizin ardından, doğanın huzur veren ritmiyle uyumlanmak için nefes egzersizlerimize başladık. Ayaklarımız toprağa sıkıca basarken, gözlerimizi kapattık ve derin bir nefes aldık. Burnumuzdan içeri dolan havanın, ciğerlerimizi doldururken nasıl bir serinlik hissettirdiğini fark ettik. Nefes verirken ise tüm yorgunluğumuzu, stresimizi doğaya bırakmanın hafifliğini yaşadık.

Doğanın kucağında, onunla bir bütün olduğumuzu hissettik. Doğayla bağlantı kurmanın sadece görmekle değil, hissetmekle de mümkün olduğunu öğrendik. Bitkiler gibi kök salmayı, rüzgâr gibi özgür olmayı, su gibi akıp gitmeyi ve nefesin hayatımızdaki en güçlü araçlardan biri olduğunu keşfettik.

Bu deneyim, çocukların hem doğayla hem de kendi iç dünyalarıyla kurdukları bağı güçlendirdi. Doğa, sadece yeşilliklerden ibaret değil; aynı zamanda ruhumuzu dinlendiren, nefesimizi yönlendiren, farkındalığımızı artıran bir öğretmendi.

Bugün, doğanın şefkatli ellerinde nefes almayı ve gerçekten var olmayı öğrendik.

Today, we embarked on a special journey with our students in the embrace of nature. Away from the noise of the city, in the inviting silence of the soil and trees, we explored nature to discover the power of breath.

Throughout our walk, we noticed the wonders nature offers us. We observed the shapes of the stones lining the path, the way tree roots intertwined, the mysterious world of mushrooms, and the birds gliding between the branches. Each was like a story nature was telling us. We held the soil in our hands, watched the sunlight filtering through the leaves, and listened to the whisper of the wind through the branches.

After all these observations, we began our breathing exercises to harmonize with the calming rhythm of nature. With our feet firmly planted on the ground, we closed our eyes and took a deep breath. We noticed the cool sensation of the air filling our lungs as we inhaled through our noses. As we exhaled, we felt the lightness of releasing all our fatigue and stress into nature.

In the embrace of nature, we felt a sense of unity with it. We learned that connecting with nature is not just about seeing but also about feeling. We discovered how to root like plants, be free like the wind, flow like water, and that breath is one of the most powerful tools in our lives.

This experience strengthened the children’s connection with both nature and their inner world. Nature is not just greenery; it is also a teacher that soothes our souls, guides our breath, and enhances our awareness.

Today, in the gentle hands of nature, we learned to breathe and truly be present.

Öğrencilerimizle nefesin hayatımızdaki rolünü anlamaya yönelik çalışmalar yaptık. Günlük hayatın temposunda nasıl bilinçli nefes alıp vererek sakinleşebileceklerini, streslerini nasıl yönetebileceklerini öğrendiler. Farkındalık egzersizleriyle, nefeslerini takip etmeyi, bedenlerindeki değişimleri hissetmeyi ve anda kalmayı deneyimlediler.

Nefesin farkına varmak, sadece bir egzersiz değil, aynı zamanda doğayla ve kendimizle kurduğumuz bağın bir parçasıydı. Tıpkı bir ağacın köklerinin toprağa sıkıca tutunması gibi, nefesimiz de bizi bulunduğumuz ana bağladı.

Bu çalışmayla öğrencilerimiz, nefesin sadece refleksif bir hareket olmadığını, bilinçli bir şekilde kontrol edildiğinde hayatlarında nasıl bir denge unsuru olabileceğini keşfettiler. Böylece nefeslerini tanımayı, ona kulak vermeyi ve onu doğru kullanmayı öğrenerek iç huzurlarını artırmayı amaçladılar.

Bir hafta boyunca nefesin bir dost, bir kılavuz ve bir denge unsuru olabileceğini keşfettik. Artık her birimiz bilinçli nefes almayı hayatımıza daha fazla dahil etmeye hazırız!

This week, we introduced our Nature Nurtures: Mindful Minds, Green Tomorrows project to our students. We explored the importance of being immersed in nature and breathing mindfully.

We worked with our students to understand the role of breath in our lives. They learned how to use mindful breathing to calm themselves and manage stress in the fast pace of daily life. Through mindfulness exercises, they practiced following their breath, noticing changes in their bodies, and experiencing the power of being present.

Becoming aware of the breath was not just an exercise but a part of our connection with nature and ourselves. Just as a tree firmly roots itself in the soil, our breath anchored us to the present moment.

With this activity, our students realized that breathing is not merely an automatic function but a tool that, when consciously controlled, can bring balance into their lives. They learned to recognize, listen to, and use their breath in a way that enhances their inner peace.

For a week, we discovered that breath could be a friend, a guide, and a source of balance. Now, each of us is ready to incorporate mindful breathing into our lives!

Maarif eğitimi, bireyin sadece akademik bilgi kazanmasını değil, aynı zamanda ahlaki, sosyal ve çevresel farkındalık kazanmasını da hedefleyen bir eğitim yaklaşımıdır. Bu proje, maarif eğitiminin temel unsurlarını doğal yaşam, mindfulness ve sürdürülebilirlik perspektifiyle birleştirerek öğrencilerin bütüncül gelişimini desteklemektedir. Aşağıda, projenin maarif eğitimi ile nasıl entegre edilebileceğini açıklıyorum:

Vatandaşlık etkinliğimiz kapsamında öğrencilerimizle birlikte çevrimiçi bir puzzle etkinliği gerçekleştirdik. Bu etkinlik, öğrencilerin iş birliği yapma, problem çözme ve vatandaşlık bilinci kazanma becerilerini geliştirmeyi amaçladı. Öğrenciler, internet üzerinden oluşturulan özel puzzle'ları tamamlayarak, vatandaşlıkla ilgili temel kavramları pekiştirdiler. Eğlenceli ve öğretici olan bu etkinlik, hem dijital becerileri geliştirdi hem de takım çalışmasını teşvik etti.

As part of our citizenship activity, we organized an online puzzle event with our students. This activity aimed to enhance their collaboration, problem-solving, and citizenship awareness skills. By completing custom-made online puzzles, students reinforced key concepts related to citizenship. This fun and educational experience not only improved their digital skills but also encouraged teamwork.

KAVAK AĞAÇLARI VE BEN

      Çocukluğumdan beri kavak ağaçları ile oynamayı çok severim. Bana çok büyüleyici gelirler. Asıl konuya gelecek olursak onların sihirli olduğunu düşünüyorum. Düşünsenize göğe kadar uzanan bir ağaç…

    Kendi bahçemizde küçük bir kavak ağacım vardı. O, büyüsün diye her zaman dua ederdim. Neyse şöyle bir şey söyledim daha doğrusu  ağzımdan çıktı.

_ “ Voaavv , benden bile uzun…”

      Açık söylemek gerekirse o zaman biraz kıskanmıştım ama o göklere kadar uzanan ağaç benimdi. İnanılmazdı… Hep ama hep onun altında oynardım. Diğer ağaçlar gibi bana gölgesi yoktu fakat ben onun altında kendimi güvende hissediyordum. Bunun nedenini hep ebeveynlerime sordum ama  onlar bana hiçbir zaman cevap vermediler. Bunun nedenini hiç anlayamamıştım.Yazları altında oyun oynarken çamurları kil gibi kullanarak onlara şekil veriyordum. Böylece bir sürü oyuncağım oluyordu. Yine  her zamanki gibi oynadığım bir gün bir baktım sertlik var. Cidden çok meraklı bir çocuktum o yüzden hemen orayı eşelemeye başladım. Bir de ne göreyim ,tahta bir kutu. Üzerinde ise bir resim. İşte bu kavak ağacının resmiydi. İçini açıp baktığımda anne ve babamın resmi vardı. Çok tatlı görünüyorlardı. İçinde bir de not vardı. Notta aynen şu yazıyordu:

 _ “Ben Hülya ,  değerli eşim Mert bunu 10 yıl sonra açacağımız bir anı kapsülü olarak düşün. 10 yıl sonra görüşürüz.”

     Kutunun içindekilere biraz daha baktım. Bir değil bir sürü fotoğraf vardı. Durumu hemen anne ve babama anlattım ve bu konu burada kapanmadı tabii ama gerisini günlüğüme yazdım.

POPLAR TREES AND ME

I have loved playing with poplar trees since my childhood. They are very fascinating to me. Coming to the point, I think they are magical. Imagine a tree reaching up to the sky...

I had a small poplar tree in our own garden. I always prayed that he would grow up. Anyway, I said something like this, or rather it came out of my mouth.

_ “Wow, even taller than me…”

To be honest, I was a little jealous at the time, but that tree that reached up to the sky was mine. It was incredible... I always played under him. It didn't have a shadow for me like other trees, but I felt safe under it. I always asked my parents why, but they never answered me. I never understood why. While playing under it in the summer, I used the mud as clay to shape them. So I had lots of toys. One day, while I was playing as usual, I noticed that there was stiffness. I was a really curious kid, so I immediately started digging there. And what should I see, a wooden box. There is a picture on it. Here was the picture of the poplar tree. When I opened it, there was a picture of my mother and father. They looked so cute. There was also a note inside. The note read as follows:

_ “I am Hülya, my precious wife Mert, think of this as a memory capsule that we will open 10 years later. See you in 10 years.”

I looked at the contents of the box some more. There was not one but many photographs. I immediately explained the situation to my parents and of course the issue did not end there, but I wrote the rest in my diary.

As part of our eTwinning project and in alignment with this year's theme, Citizenship, we organized a meaningful and engaging activity with our students. To enhance their awareness of citizenship and improve their teamwork skills, we conducted a puzzle activity specifically designed for this purpose.

Through this activity, students explored different aspects of citizenship while collaboratively assembling the puzzle pieces, improving their ability to see the bigger picture. Additionally, they had the opportunity to discuss essential concepts such as democratic values, rights, and responsibilities. It was both an educational and enjoyable experience for them.

Students carefully examined the trees in the school garden and chose the tree that interested them the most.

Yağmurlu bir sonbahar günüydü. Okulun bahçesinde, diğer ağaçların arasında küçücük bir fidan toprakla buluştu. İlkokula yeni başlayan öğrenciler gibi o da heyecanlıydı. Onu diken bahçıvan, fidanın köklerini özenle yerleştirirken gülümseyerek, “Sen de bu okulun bir parçası olacaksın,” dedi.

Zaman geçti, mevsimler birbirini kovaladı. Küçük fidan, rüzgârla dans etmeyi, yağmurdan sonra toprağın mis kokusunu içine çekmeyi öğrendi. Güneşli günlerde dallarını gökyüzüne uzatarak büyümeye devam etti. Her geçen yıl kökleri güçlendi, dalları çoğaldı ve artık okul bahçesinin en güzel çam ağaçlarından biri olmuştu.

Öğrenciler, teneffüslerde onun altında toplanıyor, yazın gölgesinde dinleniyor, bazen de sırlarını ona fısıldıyorlardı. Bir gün öğretmenleri, öğrencilere bahçedeki ağaçları incelemelerini ve en çok ilgilerini çeken ağacı seçmelerini söyledi. Çocuklar tek tek ağaçları dolaştı, dallarına dokundu, yapraklarını inceledi. Küçük Elif, kalbinin hızla çarptığını hissettiği bir ağacın yanına geldi.

Elif, ağacın kalın gövdesine yaslanarak ona fısıldadı:
“Sen de bizim gibi büyüdün, değil mi?”

Ağaç, dallarını hafifçe sallayarak rüzgârın melodisiyle ona cevap verdi:
"Evet! Ama sizinle büyümek en güzeli."

O günden sonra öğrenciler, çam ağacını daha çok sevdi. Onun yanında kitap okudular, oyunlar oynadılar, bazen de en mutlu anlarını orada paylaştılar. Çam ağacı, okulun canlı bir hafızası olmuştu. O, yalnızca bir ağaç değil, dosttu.

Yıllar geçti… Elif ve arkadaşları mezun olup gittiler ama çam ağacı hâlâ okulun bahçesinde dimdik duruyordu. Yeni öğrenciler geldi, yeni kahkahalar yükseldi. Ama çam ağacı, eski dostlarını asla unutmadı. Dalları, geçmişin anılarıyla doluydu ve kim bilir? Belki bir gün Elif geri döndüğünde, ağacın gölgesine oturup çocukluk anılarını hatırlayacaktı…

This week, as part of our project, we carried out two activities focused on mindfulness, relaxation, and connecting with nature. First, we engaged in a silent walk in nature, observing our surroundings more consciously and discovering the sounds and details that nature offers. Then, we participated in a mandala coloring activity, which helped us foster mental calmness, enhance creativity, and focus on inner peace. These activities allowed us to connect with nature, develop awareness, and relieve stress.

As part of Safer Internet Day, we prepared an informative and visually engaging bulletin board to raise awareness about conscious and safe internet use. With this display, we aimed to highlight the importance of online safety and promote awareness of responsible internet usage.

To determine the day of the Zoom meeting, we organized a survey in our WhatsApp group and determined the most suitable day according to our students.

We have determined the most suitable time for the Student Webinar through the questionnaire.

Günümüzün yoğun temposunda zihnimizi dinlendirmek ve iç huzuru yakalamak için doğayla iç içe aktiviteler büyük önem taşıyor. Bu etkinliklerden biri de mandala boyama.

Mandala ve Doğanın Gücü

Mandala, Sanskritçe kökenli bir kelime olup “daire” veya “merkez” anlamına gelir. Meditasyon ve farkındalık pratiği olarak kullanılan mandala boyama, kişiyi anda kalmaya teşvik eder, stres ve kaygıyı azaltır. Doğanın sunduğu sakinleştirici atmosferle birleştiğinde ise etkisi daha da artar.

🔢 We combined math, art, and mindfulness in a special Pi Day activity with our students!

📌 We started by watching a video about the importance of Pi.

🎨 We turned math into art with a coding and coloring activity.

🧘‍♂️ We practiced mindful thinking with meditation music.

📌 At the end, we displayed students’ work on a creative bulletin board.

💡 As the project founder and a math teacher, I couldn’t miss celebrating this special day with a creative and mindful approach! ✨📏🙈

The first stanza of our poem was written collaboratively, based on students’ shared ideas. Through this process, they reflected on the importance of water resources while also improving their creative writing skills.

Students shared environmentally friendly suggestions such as recycling, saving water, planting trees, using energy efficiently, and choosing sustainable transportation.

This activity not only supported data literacy but also promoted environmental awareness and responsibility.

By integrating our project into the curriculum, we addressed both academic and value-based learning outcomes.

"As part of our project, we prepared a comprehensive board showcasing all the work we carried out throughout the term. By displaying it in the busiest area of our school, we aimed to raise awareness among individuals and enhance the visibility and impact of our project."

For me, integrating with nature is not just about hiking in forests or camping; it means realising that we are a part of nature and living with this consciousness. In the fast pace of modern life, we often get away from nature. However, the air we breathe, the water we drink, everything we eat comes from nature. The healthier our relationship with it, the more balanced we are both physically and spiritually.

Thanks to the E Twining project, I started to establish a stronger bond with nature. The silence of the trees, the sound of birds and the smell of the soil not only gave me peace, but also reminded me of my responsibility to protect nature. Integrating with nature means listening to it, observing it and living in it without harming it. With this project, I now approach nature more consciously and

As part of the Nature Nurtures project, the students created their own personal well-being guides. In these guides, they reflected on the mindfulness techniques they learned and their connection with nature. Each student designed their guide using Canva and enriched it with visuals. This activity helped them improve both their digital skills and emotional awareness.

In another task, we created a nature corner with our students. First, we described the features we wanted in the posters to ChatGPT. Then, we edited and enlarged the suggested designs in Canva. Finally, we printed them out and set up our nature corner in the classroom. This corner became a wonderful space to raise students' awareness of nature.

As part of World Water Day, we created poems with the help of ChatGPT. Together with the students, we reviewed the poems and selected our favorite one. We shared our selected poem with our project partners. This activity helped us highlight the importance of water and improve our creative thinking skills.

In the final task of the project, students shared their thoughts and feelings on a shared Padlet board, allowing them to connect with one another. Through this activity, students from different countries had the chance to get to know each other better and reflect on their experiences throughout the project.

On Pi Day, we held a fun coloring activity featuring the Pi symbol. Through this activity, students learned about the symbol of Pi and had an enjoyable time expressing their creativity.

This project helped me connect with nature in ways I never imagined. I loved the silent walk and the mandala activity because they made me feel calm and peaceful. I realized that taking a deep breath and listening to the world around me can really change how I feel inside. 🤩🤩🤩

We Took Part in Our Year-End Exhibition with Our Project Stand at Muradiye Cumhuriyet Secondary School!

As part of our eTwinning project “Nature Nurtures: Mindful Minds, Greener Tomorrows”, we set up a special stand with our project students during our school’s year-end exhibition. Our students introduced the project to visitors and gave brief presentations about mindfulness-based breathing techniques, sparking interest among attendees.

Our stand was visited with great enthusiasm by the District Director of National Education, school principals, teachers, and students from other schools.

This special day once again proved that our project created a strong impact not only in our school but also in our district. Watching our students proudly and confidently present their work showed just how meaningful this journey has been in their educational development.

Our eTwinning project “Nature Nurtures: Mindful Minds, Greener Tomorrows” was featured in two different local online newspapers in Manisa.

We are proud that our project is gaining attention and reaching a wider audience.

Our eTwinning project “Nature Nurtures: Mindful Minds, Greener Tomorrows” was not only featured in online newspapers in Manisa, but also published in printed local newspapers.

This visibility helped increase the widespread impact of our project and connected the efforts of our students and teachers with the wider community.

Khashuri's history dates back to the 19th century when it developed rapidly due to the construction of the Georgian Railway. The name "Khashuri" comes from the Georgian word "khashuri," meaning salty—a reference to the nearby mineral springs. Over the years, Khashuri has grown from a small village into a vital town with both historical and modern features.

Cultural Identity

Khashuri is known for its rich traditions and strong community values. The town has several schools, libraries, cultural houses, and churches that reflect Georgia’s deep cultural and religious heritage. Festivals, folk dances, and traditional music are still celebrated by local people, especially on public holidays and cultural events.

The town has a long history, dating back to Roman times. Visitors can see the remains of the Old Castle, built in the 12th century. The castle was once home to various noble families. Today, it is a popular spot for hiking and offers panoramic views of the valley. Another historical site is the Lanthieri Mansion, a Baroque building on the main square. Nearby, the Church of St. Stephen features 18th-century frescoes and a white-marble altar.

Vipava is famous for its wine. The region's mild Mediterranean climate and fertile soil make it ideal for growing various types of grapes. Notable among them are the indigenous Zelen and Pinela, which produce distinctive white wines. Visitors can explore the Vipava Wine Road, a route connecting 30 wine towns, offering opportunities to taste wines directly from family-run wineries. The town also boasts exceptional dining experiences, such as the Michelin-starred Pri Lojzetu, where guests can savor innovative dishes in a historic setting.

For nature enthusiasts, Vipava offers a variety of outdoor activities. The nearby Nanos Plateau provides excellent hiking and climbing opportunities, with routes suitable for all skill levels. Cycling enthusiasts can enjoy scenic trails through the valley, with options for both leisurely rides and more challenging routes.

Thanks to the high-quality activities, interdisciplinary approach, and student-centered practices implemented within this project, Muradiye Cumhuriyet Secondary School has earned the right to become a member of the 2025 Erasmus+ School Education Accreditation Consortium. Our eTwinning project has increased our school’s engagement with international collaboration and laid the groundwork for broader partnerships across Europe. The skills and experiences gained through eTwinning have created a strong foundation for sustainable and long-lasting impact through Erasmus+. This achievement highlights that the project has contributed not only to classroom learning but also to the institutional development and international visibility of our school. ❤️❤️❤️

Duygu Tanrıöver, an expert in MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction) and mindfulness in education, was our school's guest! Under the guidance of our expert, we came together with both our teachers and students to work on the following focal points:

The dissemination activities of the eTwinning project we carry out continue unabated. Our "Mindful" and "Green Future" themed videos, which we prepared with great effort with our students, are now on the air on the EBA platform! In addition, the documents of our students who were entitled to receive a certificate with the outstanding success they showed in this process were uploaded to the EBA system.
