In the article 'Iran says it 'unintentionally' shot down Ukrainian jetliner, after repeatedly denying responsibility', the state media said that they would upgrade their systems to prevent such “mistakes” in the future. However, I feel that they should have done so long ago, considering that there have already been such incidents previously. Iran should have looked carefully before shooting down a civilian plane. Even if they were on highest alert, they should have thought before they acted. Although Iran claimed that they would upgrade their system to prevent such “mistakes” in the future, I feel that they should have done it a long time ago to be able to defend themselves from any attacking forces. Iran should have closed the airport and not allowed the plane to take off when they knew that it was dangerous. With all these precautions, the incident would have been prevented.  Let us all hope that history would not repeat itself again.

Iran could have been more observant and meticulous as shooting down planes is a big deal and it requires careful consideration. Iran was way too aggressive, and by doing so, they killed many innocent lives. No compensation would ever be enough to make up for their lives. Luckily, Iran admitted their mistake, and I think that is something that that have done right. Even if Iran was looking out for attacks from the US, they should have confirmed whether the plane is from US before shooting.
