In the first chapter the News is announcing that the Germans are invading Denmark and that the people don't really know what to do. As an example the parents send the child out to walk to school with another person. Her parents are new to something like this, they think it won't change much. What they don't know is that the invasion with effect a lot of things like school, activities, jobs and more. What they don't know is that if they get caught they won't just go to jail, they will be tortured and killed. Lisa doesn't know that but i think if she did know then she would be more careful about what she's saying, like how she's saying she wants to help take down the Nazis.

1. What will the Germans do to the people of Denmark?

2. How will people from other countries react to the Germans invading Denmark?

Why does she care so much?

Lisa get's a good idea about how to help take out the Germans by giving them medicine but not god medicine, the medicine would be some pills to make their stomach hurt but not to kill them. She tells her father because he is a doctor and he agrees with the idea, but later on Lisa realises that she gave him the idea but if he gets put to "jail" or killed it would be her fault. She started second guessing herself after that, that they could do a lot if they found you doing stuff like that, but at the time they just thought they were gonna go to jail but they were really going to concentration camps.

This chapter starts with Lisa in school waiting for the bell to ring, she had a plan. She was going to follow Stefan, she overheard the big argument Jesper and Stefan had the night before. Their argument was about how Stefan wanted to help the resistance but Jesper said that the resictance didn't want any Jews to help because it would be too dangerous. But after a little while of arguing, Jesper said he would ask them if Stefan could help. After that Lisa thought that everyone in her family acted strange, her father would come home very late, her mother would do normal stuff but she had a feeling.

Six months later, the Germans filled the streets, Lisa and Stefan played chicken with the soldiers to make them mad. Later on she found leaflets of what is actually going on in the war like how Norway took out a big part of the German's navy and how three factories were blown up in Copenhagen.

She's in school waiting for the bell to ring so she can go follow Jesper and Stefan, their school is the building next door. She hurries out and sees Stefan and Jesper walking down the street. At first it was easy for her to follow but after a while theirwere only a couple of people in between her and them, if they look back they are going to see Lisa. She follows them and sees that they are going to the playground so she takes a different route so they don't see her. When she arrives she hides behind a tree off to the side, she sees a man wearing a winter coat sit down on the bench and then leave, he left a package on the bench. Stefan and Jesper are also wearing their winter coats, they sit on the bench and shuv whatever the package was in their coat. They hop on a street car and leave. So she runs to the next stop, it's about two blocks down. When she gets on she looks for them but she can't find them and as the bus is starting to go Stefan tapped on her window from the outside laughing. SHe notices a piece of paper on the ground, she picks it up and stays on the bus not looking at it, as soon as she gets home she's gonna open it. Home was about 8 blocks away as she reaches her apartement she swing open the door and runs to her room slamming the door. Lisa quickly opens the letter which read: "they anaged to blow up a tool factory and some rail lines. They tell us to listen to Radio Free Denmark for more information." As she finishes reading it her mom comes to her door asking to come in, she enters and asks why Lisa was so late and that she worries. When she leaves Lisa sinks into her bed thinking of how she would need to make excuses on where she is.

This Chapter starts with Stefan and Lisa at their apartment when her dad comes out with a tiny bundle, shaking it. He asks Lisa's mother if he is ready, they bring the baby and give it some milk, Lisa asks if it's the baby that their parents got shot in the hospital. Her father responds yes, She questioned her self if the baby would stay with them after the war if it ever ended. Later on that night she got woken up by a big explosion, it hit by Susanne's house. She heard a knock on the door, she knew it wasn't a good idea to go answer the door but she still got up and opened the door, Susanne was at the door no hair, charred, blisters all over the place. Her father came in the room and carried Susanne to their bedroom where they took care of the wounds and called an ambulance.

When Hanne sees Lisa she recognise her, unlike when she saw Karl, he couldn't remember a thing. He had gray all over and had bad eye sight. She sat down at the table, Hanne was going to get her some food when she cried at Hanne to come back, Erik stands up and announces that the Germans are going to come and take all of the Jews and send them off to concentration camps or possibly kill them. Erik's grandmother is going to her friend's and bringing food to her to ask if she can stay with her. Moments later Lisa looses it because Erik's grandfather doesn't want to go somewhere to hide. Lisa slaps him in the face twice hard because she thought she could slap some sense into him. Then his grandfather tells him to go pack his bags and that he will go with Lisa.

This chapter starts with Lisa and her family in the hospital with other Jews. They were waiting for the ambulances to arrive, they were going to transport the Jews to the coast to get on a boat that was going to go to Sweden. The ambulances arrive, everyone packs into each, about 30 people in each ambulance. They head to the coast, once they get there they had to go in the bush because there was a problem with the boat. They hide, a little bit later they hear a scream of pain by where Stefan was hiding, Lisa went over to check it out. She found a father and a mother that had committed suicide because they thought that it would be better to die than to be caught by the Germans. Later on in the chapter Stefan found Lisa and asked to stay with him to scout/defend the drop spot, Lisa thought about it then said yes. He hands her a gun and they split up, Lisa with Jesper and Stefan alone.

How the book is so far

I think the book so far is quite eventful, the book has lots of history in it which makes it more interesting to think about what it's like when they were in war in the 1940's. This book brings lots of awareness of how bad the war was, it brings out how much it can ruin peoples lives after they witness their parents getting killed in front of them because they are Jews.

I think the book was a lot better than egg head because this book was action packed, the author also raised awareness on how bad war is. In my opinion the author was really good at showing you how sad the war is for some people and how other people don't care. This story also ties in with the war between Ukraine and Russia, the war is intense people are dying and some people are willing to suicide because they can't live any more with the bombings and killings. In my opinion over all the book was good and that I liked that in every chapter their was something new or suprising to me and that really added to the book.
