Hobby - Traveling

Research Experience

Joining a research lab that deals with neurodegenerative disorders like TBI and epilepsy gave me some exposure into neurology. This experience truly inspired me to keep pursuing studies in neurology.

Fork in the Road - Research vs. Medicine

My high school swim coach was incredibly important to me. She didn’t just push me to excel in swimming but also supported me through academic and my familial challenges. I truly appreciated her willingness to listen and offer new perspectives to my problems. In the future, I aspire to be a leader like her.

Leadership During a Travel Setback

During a trip to Europe, my family and I missed our flight and were forced to stay at the airport for a day. While the rest of my family resigned to losing 2 days of our 2 week long trip, my dad remained calm and composed. He quickly booked a last-minute train, and turned the unexpected delay into an opportunity to explore new places we hadn’t planned for. His ability to stay positive and find a solution in a challenging situation left a lasting impression on me and showed me true leadership.

Leadership - Tough time in Family

My grandmother unfortunately was diagnosed with breast cancer during my senior year of high school. As a result, my mom had to go to India to take care of her. With my mom away, my dad, sister, and I had to manage things at home. I took on a leadership role, cooking meals for my sister and me, and driving her to her school and classes.
