         <description><![CDATA[<div>A boycott is a withdrawal from social or commercial relations</div><div>It affected the olympics because the 1980 were boycotted because the united states and other countries were protesting because russia was invading afganistan. Later in the 1984 olympics they were invaded for the same reason by the allies of the united states. The soviets hosted it and over 80 countries did not participate.</div><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Hockey was a very big deal in the us and ussr the ussr was a very big strong and powerful team. They were very skilled and would beat NHL teams. The us was a very big underdo going into the game, when they won it was more then a victory for the team, it was a victory for the citizens and all hockey fans.&nbsp;</div><div><br><br></div><div>Medal count in the olympics meant a lot. It was vry competitive. When the us was in front of the ussr or the ussr was in front of the us during the game it was very meaningful. Their countries and citizens were very proud of their accomplishments.&nbsp;</div><div><br><br></div><div>Other sports were very important to the usa and ussr. It didnt matter if the usa or ussr won on track, hockey, soccer, etc. everytime either of them beat eachother it was a huge victory for their country.</div><div><br></div>]]></description>

Because the competition was and it highest.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>Usa vs.ussr matchups were more competitive. Because other countries wanted to show their power.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>When the usa or ussr would win it was a way bigger deal and more meaningful to the players and their country. &nbsp; Because when they won it was for way more then just the olympic medals.
