Children's story.

For this lesson, we discussed what morals we should put in a story for children for them to learn these morals. One of the morals was 'right from wrong' which we showed in a piece of two brothers wanting sweets but when a woman drops £5 then they soon learn to give it back. However the woman gives then the £5 for sweets. This is another moral we used which was 'give something back and you'll get better in return'. We used the technique of a rhyming narrarator as then kids would then grab the concept of our point.
When we created the story, we had to first list the things that would be in children stories.
-good vs evil
-mystical creatures
-fantasy
Also we listed the things that were needed to be placed in a story for children:
-basic storyline/ easy to follow
-defined characters
-colours, specific colours for specific characters
-engaging
-characters and their consistency
-length of the story
-do not articulate/language/do not confuse
-do not swear
-always give a purpose/ reason.
then we began to find reasons and purposes for our story like:
-educational
-bullying
-entertainment
-instructional
-specific subject

For this lesson, we did the warm up of the Eastenders 'zip zap boing' before being given a word and having to tell a story about that certain word for 2 minutes that had to be interesting and creative.
I found this exercise very fun to complete as it made my mind open up more when trying to complete the task of telling a story about summer. For this I had interpreted direct address and a personal link into the story about summer.
I found this task very fun and my over all result for this task was I used all the things above but my feedback for improvement was that I need to slow my speed of speaking as I was rushing.
my improvement for this sort of task would be to pace myself and what I am saying, forget the amount of time I have to talk about my story and also to be clear and concise while doing so.

The day before, it was induction day where all the new students would come in and get an insight about the course they're doing. With us, we were basically playing games that day and yes got told what this course was about and that we needed to contribute fully for us to pass this course. The next day (13th),our class decided that we should do warm ups at the start of Kelly's lessons to wake us up and to open our minds.
The warm up we chose was an adapted version of the game 'Zip zap boing' but it would be relatable to eastenders. We found it more amusing and lively to play. After the warm up we were told about what storytelling would be like and what we would have to do for it.
my first impression of college was a positive one because before I started, I was told a lot of things about West Kent but didn't know what to believe. Another reason why it was positive was because I made new friends and was given an insight into what I would be learning about in the next 2 years and how it would benefit me and my future in the acting terms.
I was told that I had a good pick of options to choose from when these 2 years are finished. I could either go to university or a drama school and continue my education there or I could start to audition for shows such as hollyoaks, eastenders ect.

The storytelling session I did today, I found it very challenging but in a good way because it helped me explore how I can change myself and my personality into the complete oposite.
I also found that when playing out my character, in comparison to my personality, there is much difference to the way we walk, talk, relax and release our emotions. For example, when I get angry or frustrated, I tend to go off on my own and normally become very quiet. Instead my character runs his hands together and releases his emotion in a sharp long scream. Another example is that when I walk, i usually have my head down and try to avoid eye contact with anyone while keeping my hands in my pocket. However my character has his head high and let's his arms swing free.
So from these examples I can see that my character is very different and oposite to who I am and what I do.
