1) Plagiarism has not gotten better. It may have gotten worse.
-Students need to understand "original work".
-Paraphrasing, Quoting, Citing...
-With chances to re-submit, some students do not bother.
-Students using plagiarism scanners claiming % of plagiarism.."Why isn't it accepted?"
Solutions:
1) DO NOT NEGOTIATE! : )
2) Weekly calls with the Dean to discuss plagiarism (Domestic & International = similar issues)
3) All teachers should not accept. Students will play teachers against each other. GET ON BOARD. UNITED FRONT! WE CAN DO IT!
*Alignment of courses and expectations of courses still in process.
3) Turn It In. Plagiarism scanner. -Does this address lack of knowledge or understanding?
-Looking at an alternative 'Grammarly' - Purchase license?
-Does this address the "spinning"?
-It is important to be able to address the mistakes students are making and teach them how to correct these.
4) Teacher and Academic responsibility to evaluate carefully, be very critical of student work, and CATCH IT!
Consistent, thorough, strict!
5) Using exams to "weed out" what students are actually capable of doing. So spreading out grade allocation for assessments strategically.
6) ***Please add the comment "PLAGIARISM" to help Academics advise students and to provide students with accurate information when responding to student complaints/inqueries.
7) TELL ACADEMICS Re: Harassment! It violates the student code of conduct policy.
8) USE POLICY! Standardize how policy is implemented.

2) Textbooks purchases

3) Students can bring laptops VS phones

4) Student computer skills
Solutions:
1) Cambrian Fall courses Re computer skills and typing
2) Microsoft Office usage.
3) Workshops & Additional Classes outside of classes
*Recognize Gaps & Address them
