I need advice on how to make it look right and pretty, I have been struggling with it for days. And any other advice to make everything blend in together smoothly, make it look natural. I'm new to trying to make landscapes, so any perspective tips would be awesome too. Any suggestions for the story is accepted, writer's block sucks.

Title- Abolish Fast Fashion
Theme- Homemade
Plans- I was stupid and left my bag of art supplies on the bus, and sadly cannot show everything. Plans I have, two bows on the heart pockets, fuzzy white peter pan collar with ruffles (only have the pattern on for now), and buttons going down the middle
Feed Back Questions-
please note- this is meant to look more like an everyday sweater to wear, not something for the runway or a photo shoot

I want my sweater to be over the top, but not chaotic and overwhelming. But I also run the risk of looking bland. Any ideas of how to combat this in both the art piece and my future ones?

Wondering if the buttons down the middle would be too much.
Should I focus on this as it's own piece of art, or a "series" (I am making a skirt and vest to go with it.)
Open to any idea of what I could add!

I think the parts of your piece that are really successful right now are where you play with texture with the ribbons specifically the ruching around the hearts is very well done. My advice would be to amp up contrast in your piece. I think it'd be really cool if you did this though more texture. I think what you were saying about the buttons is a good idea. I would also love to see some embroidery and/or destressing in this piece, I think it'd give it more character. (especially with distressing it'd lean into more of a kinderwhore aesthetic which I personally love but dealers choice). As for your concern of it being chaotic or overwhelming I don't see it as a problem at all and advocate for more. If you are gonna go for it go for it and truly make it a statement piece.

Either way, this looks amazing so far, I love your trees.

I think the contrast between the hands and the yarn is going in a cool direction. I've already expressed to you that I think the concept for this piece is strong. For yarn specifically I want to encourage you to play with different thicknesses, textures, and types of yarn even if its within the same color/color pallet, it'll give the eye more to play with. As for weaving in general if you haven't already started experimenting with unconventional materials...DO IT! (trust me) But back to the point my recommendation is to focus on building up texture in the background through any of the aforementioned materials but also through the methodology of weaving and knots. If you're looking for inspiration for this check out macramé stuff specifically the older ones like from the 70s do a good job of easily explaining the processes.

Especially since you've been documenting strangers with the piece, maybe incorporate them holding it up by strings, creating both distance and new connection to the physical piece.
Also, I think it would be interesting if you would weave/create your own yard with unconventional materials. I agree with Maya above me that a consistent color palette will bring all of your pieces together nicely.

If you are concerned about the piece being flat, the area that seems to be the largest and most flat would be the grass. I'd recommend first going in and trying to deepen the marks you already have in the grass and see if that remedies the issue, but if not try adding just few more sparingly and maybe a bit more random. I think a part of this piece that is really successful (and my favorite) is how you were able to communicate the shadows on the girl. If you don't do this in more than one color way at least to experiment, I will be very sad.

If you just made implications of the colors in the background as well as just softed the harder lines I think that the background would be more simplified and easier to tackle. The values on your face look lovely. The colors on the skin colors look blocked a bit and unsmooth but it works well in your favor. I actually like the look a lot.

i LOVE the idea of doing some sort of anatomical design on the door. As for redesigning the medicine bottles, maybe you could connect the two? like drawing veins on the door, then leading one of two of them over to the bottle where they could turn into "real" veins with coloured yarn or some kind of glue and pulled cotton mixture. Regarding hanging things, I think using floss to do that would be really really cool!! I was thinking maybe hanging one of those plastic baby syringes to get them to take, like, liquid medicine? (I'll include a pic at the bottom if I can find one lol). But overall, i'm absolutely in LOVE with this piece just because of how much feeling it portrays, and i'm so excited to see it finished! :)

For the redesign of the pill bottles you could maybe use a complementary color to the pink since there is so much of it in the piece so it would stand out. I'm not sure what is inside the pill bottles put you could maybe have some spilling out if that's whats supposed to be inside. And I also love the idea of the anatomical designs and references.

now THAT is one funky sweater, and i love it holy heck. I definitely agree with maya that your strong points that catch the eye the quickest are the textured bits and that super cute bow right in the center. I'm personally no extremely sold on buttons down the middle unless you're turning this into a shawl because I feel it would make your garment a bit too squished, but one thing I think could be really cute is stuffing the bear guy you got chillin in the front there!! Your pink and blue hearts near the bottom are super attention grabbing, so I think either fluffing him up, or adding more detail to the top of the sweater (maybe lining lace on the collar?) will help even it out a bunch. I also think you should definitely incorporate the sleeves into this too!! maybe add some lil bear paws or hearts or something made of felt on the outside of where your hands rest in the sleeves? Overall, I really really like where this garment is going aesthetic-wise, and I really idolize how you're sticking with wearable art again in your theme this year since this type of fashion is a big part of who you are! It definitely feels super you. :)

There is something unsettling about completely symmetrical things mixed with free form things. i think that effect could help you emulate a vibe that goes with your theme. also i would try to make things like the grass and water more saturated, right now the color looks dull and flat. i really like the concept, i think its gonna look great when you finish it.

To contrast with the orange, and still stay with warm colors, use a warm blue. While blue isn't usually a "warm" color, the shade of blue that you use can determine the temperature of the color. If you don't know what I'm talking about, just google search "warm blues." You can incorporate this with Austin's idea if you chose to paint puffs of smoke. So far the piece is looking strong. I love contrast of light and dark, and the 2-D look fits your art style!

To make the composition better I suggest working on the background a lot more. The grass doesn't look like it does in the trial print. To make it look like the trial print, add lots of carved out grass and add some small trees too. It looks like there are some tree in the trial print but its a little hard to tell. And add dashes/dots for stars, and put them far away from the ground so the viewer doesn't confuse it for grass. Over all, have a better contrast in the background.

The expressions and the concept of this is so precious. You truly captured the look of an old photograph and I really admire that. Since you mentioned needing tips on the skin tones, I think it would become a lot stronger if you included more peachy-red tones in the cheeks. Also, adding a deep purple to the shadows will give it a lot more vibrance. I cant wait to see you finish this!

I really love the way you did this. It’s perfect for spooky season :) To make this look less flat, I would try giving the background more depth. More details would make the eye lead from one thing to another. I suggest putting dead trees in the horizon or giving the ground more shapes that look like blades of grass

I think for the background and to bring out more of the angel you should do something either dark, like almost a night sky with dark blues and purples, or other warm colors to contrast the cool tones of the rest of the piece. If you wanted to do water then maybe hinting a the dirt layer or rock between the grass and water might help, as it looks a bit too flat, or if you're trying to make it look like a shoreline maybe add some foam to the water closest to the grass. The angel looks really cool, and the other angel? that is green and circles the piece helps bring the viewer all around the piece, so good composition. Looks really cool!

I really love that mountian and the sky light. Beautiful. I'm just wondering if there will be any other colors other than the white/black/and pale blue. I like it, though it's kind of boring in a way, it doesn't draw you in as much. Maybe it's just me. I think adding small bits of red or green, or even just adding more blue to your shadows and highlights might make it pop out a bit more. Is this supposed to be like starting up a new video game, it does give off the vibes of that, especially with the name, but I can't really tell that with a first glance. Though I don't really know how to help with that. But otherwise this is looking awesome. Good job.
