Overall, it must be agreed that both platforms are suited better for different tasks - I certainly wouldn't use Pinterest to manage news articles, nor would I use Pocket to explore interests or search for ideas or inspiration.

When it comes to the task of finding and saving information, Pocket certainly has Pinterest beat, purely by virtue of the handy web extension it employs that makes it easy to use pocket anywhere at any time, across multiple devices - all to one Pocket account.

Pocket however, is limited by its ability to manage information effectively. Tagging articles is the only way to create collections that can be browsed efficiently and additional groups cannot be created outside of your 'favourites'.
This reliance on tagging would not be a problem if you didn't need to spend so much time tagging articles one by one.
This is where Pocket's priorities become clear - every time you go to tag an article, they advertise 'Pocket Premium', a paid subscription service which offers smart tagging services and (you guessed it) the previously non-existant search bar. So much for user-friendly content management.

Pinterest, on the other hand is useful in that you can organise your content easily and efficiently - as long as the particular content you want to see is available on the site.

Creating a map mashup is a good way to visually present information to users - particularly information that is heavily dependent on location, such as shops, tourist spots, etc.

By first creating an Excel spreadsheet with the information I wanted to display - Pub names, addresses, counties, latitude and longitude, I was then able to import that data directly into Google My Maps, which placed the locations accordingly. I created two excel spreadsheets to do this - one documenting the JD Wetherspoons in the Republic of Ireland, and the other for Northern Ireland

In the interest of convenience, I changed the symbols of the locations to that of a pub, and sorted the pubs by county; colour coding them accordingly.

Finally, I added a picture of each pub to their information section, so that users can see what the pub looks like, and locate it easier.

When writing a privacy policy, I made sure to address the five rights outlined in Anderson (2017):

· The Right to Remove

· The Right to Know

· The Right to Safety and Support

· The Right to Informed and Conscious Use

· The Right to Financial Literacy

For the ‘Right to Remove’ – I made sure that anything uploaded by the user could be taken down again at will.

For the ‘Right to Know’ – I made sure that the privacy policy was laid out in simple terms and easy to understand. Additionally in the interests of transparency, I included a description of the platform and how it is monetized in the introduction of the policy. Finally, I ensured that you can opt out of targeted advertising and third party data collection.

For the ‘Right to Safety and Support’ – I ensured that there were parental controls that would limit the types of content shown to minors.

For the ‘Right to Informed and Conscious Use’ – I ensured that technology such as push notifications that is used to ‘suck in’ users can be disabled.

For the ‘Right to Financial Literacy’ – I ensured that those who upload content remain the original owners.
