During the varve counting, I did not believe that is was very reliable. While trying to count that layers I lost count and had to begin again. There are several different lines that were very close together and it made it hard to count. It was not very accurate because most people in the class got very different numbers.

While attempting to use this form of absolute dating; counting varves I found my self realizing that this method is a

treacherous way of trying to figure out the "absolute date" because sitting there needing to count each and every single layer is hard. Because sometimes you lose count. Or miss layers and you need to recount.

I agree with Maddy and Tori in regards to the fact that this way of absolute dating isn't the most accurate way to find the dates of the layers and fossils. Sometimes you may lose count of where you are, you might skip a few layers or include ones that aren't there since the layers are so close and you can't really tell which ones are which. I know "absolute dating" isn't really absolute or 100% accurate, but after a while of miscalculating the amount of layers, those miscalculations add up and eventually you're not even in the ball park rage anymore.

While trying to count the varves using absolute dating I saw that this wasn't a very good or reliable method. While counting you can miscount or either you miss a line or you cant really see lines. In addition to why it wasn't very reliable is because when we went over it everyone had very unlike numbers

I agree with Maddy and Tori, counting the layers is very ineffective and frustrating. Also, having to add all the layers together is a real pain. Getting the right number of layers is very difficult. Seeing all the layers is very difficult and annoying. I would not use this method for absolute dating often

I believe that it is a very unreliable source. The lines were very hard to count because sometimes they got blended into each other. Another reason is that they are so small.

While undertaking the "absolute dating" method, I did not find it to be a very devoted or reliable method due to their being possibilities such as miscounting because the lines were very thin and compact. My group actually recounted others cards and ended with immensely different answers, so that shows we all weren't really going to have a very precise or accurate result.

ETHAN WISE i also agree with maddy counting the layers are very ineffective and take a long time. They are very time consuming and it is hard to count and add up all of the layers. most of the time you arent even correct on the amount of layers you had counted.
