Have you ever written a short horror story? nataliacolet1 https://padlet.com/tmelich/7hqruhcl7vb10cu3/wish/1916813676 When your students repeat the same thing every year: "Teacher, what are we going to do to celebrate Halloween?" This time I had the answer, an idea that would become an activity of six or seven session classes and that would be very successful to practice both cross curricular competences: the digital and the personal and social. The students could build up their self-esteem because they see themselves capable of creating their own literary production. At the same time the Written Expression together with the literary dimension  ( field competencies) would be developed and assessed.

So Halloween proved to be a good "excuse" for my students to feel empowered and capable of creating something original, recording themselves on audio and using Genially to create their story by attaching images and narrating the plot they created.
They would also learn how to produce a good piece of writing including all the elements it should contain.

In the last session, the stories would be projected on the class screen to be co-assessed ( both by the students and by the teacher) with a rubrics that would have been displayed in their Google Classroom and where the necessary criteria and grades appeared. 

The students would also be provided with an Orientation framework in which they could check if they were including all the elements of a good story ( such as theme, setting , characters, plot, ending, etc) while they were writing it.

The activity would also be published with photos of the students and their creaions on the school website. Although this would not be part of the activity itself, some of the students could use their story to go in for the Booktrailers competition the school is organizing soon.

  In terms of catering for diversity, this activity caters for the needs of students with literacy difficulties, as it works on a multi-level basis, i.e. not only the writing itself, but also the recording of the narration and the digital resources for the creation of the story. 
The multiple intelligences are thus enhanced.
In the same way, higher cognitive processes are also worked on, in the sense that they create and design their own final product through the process of learning how to write (the elements) of a good short story.
