I think nowadays is really easy to find a way to practice English, but the main problem is people don´t try if the don´t need it at all. Once you realize you need it, I strongly believe that the main problem is the shame, due to people usually feel embarrased when they have to meet each other and the situation requires to speak in a foreign language. We often feel ridiculous, and the first step is to brake up this thought.
What I have tried mainly to get on this goal, is start to chat trough the Internet. I think is a good way to break the ice and it can be the first step for much people. Once you feel confortable in that stage, you can jump and meet people face to face and speak in English with them.
I also recommend to travel to the country and stay there for several moths. It is highly probable your English would be better.

I´d like to tell you that the problems I´ve to speak English outside classes are similar than your problems, maybe.
I don´t know anybody who speaks English and in my job, I could speak this language, but I work in a Security Company and it´s a bit risk. Also, I lived for 8 months in Swansea, in Wales, but I spent almost my time with Spanish people, and, it was fun but we didn´t practise English as we had to do it.
Anyway, I try to listen Vaughan programs, chat with my friends using English and that´s all.
Some people say that there is a pub, called Galway, where you can speak English, but I´ve never gone so far.

Besides I watch TV series in original version with English subtitles. I strongly recommend to watch American series because they are funny.
The thing that I can`t manage to practice is speaking. I don`t have enough time to chat with English people. But I think it will be a good idea to improve my speaking level.

In my case, I studied for a month in England and I made a lot of English friends so I try to solve this problem speaking with us by Skype.
Nowadays, if you live in a big city, there many cafes in which you find native speakers who talk with you about any topics that you like. This is a great option because if you can't travel abroad, you can go to this types of cafe to practice your speaking.

Every year we need to improve our English, and each year you have to change or learn new strategies, to do your speaking and writing more complex.
In my case, I see all the Tv series and films in English, and if there is an useful word or a sentence I write it down, and after I try to use it in class or repeat its pronunciation.
I focus in programmes like BBC, which it has a very good website with news or short videos about a lot of topics like cultural or economy. I love the comedian programmes too, like Jimmy Fallon and of course, Youtube.
My advice is change a little things you do. For example, in your city, there are museums, so you can read the information in English, or use an English audio guide. It can be useful. And finally, if you can travel, speak and ask with everybody , make a lot of simple questions, and make mistakes, it doesn't matter, people are very nice and they try to help you. This is a very good experience.

You can find some problems when you try to practise English on your own, after class. In fact, one of my biggest problems is no people around me who speak english, so I´ve tried to find friends with talk to, no matter where they live. Nowadays, internet and social networks let you keep in contact to people faster and easier. For instance, I have a couple of American friends with whom I speak often by WhatsApp or Skype.
However, if you prefer practising it alone, an entertaining and fun way to do it is watching series, with the help of subtitles if you need. In my case, I´ve been watching an American serie called "Homeland". Each chapter is more interesting than the previous one. In this way, I can´t wait to watch the next one for a long time, which forces me to keep practising English constantly.

I'm going to talk about my own experience using an App called MEETUP. Through this app, you can attend Language Exchange Group practically every day. They organice groups in different places and hours depending on your hobbies ( to dance, to do hiking, to have a drink, to do yoga, to go to the cinema....)

I encourage you to try some of that group!! You improve your English ina a fun way, with real people in a real situation and wishing speak with us.

When you travel a lot you notice that much people speak English well; for example in restaurants or with taxi drivers or bus drivers.
I try to take advantage with a lot of opportunities.
Here in Madrid, there are a lot of turists that visit us. Sometimes I try to talk to them anywhere. For example if I go to the Prado Museum and listen to anyone speaking English. I tend to get closer to them and begin to talk about anything. It's the best way to start a conversation. The same if I stay in the Plaza Mayor and I'm having a drink if I see someone sit near me, I try to offer myself if they can't understand the waiter or if they want to know the best places to be visited. For them it's very pleasont and for me it's very usefull.
Sometimes turists ask me about an adress in the underground or where to buy anything the need.
I think it?s better talking to a native person than Spanish people if they don't speak English well, because you make a lot of mistakes.
I've heard of places like pubs, where you can practice. I'll find out about them.

Taking in mind that is really complicated to find a situation in wich you could speak with others in english (in my opinion It doesn´t matter it the person is not an english person), we have do make a difference by practising in every possible moment, I mean, if you use public transport, then you could listen to Vaughan radio for instance, watching a video in youtube, read an international newspaper, and many more possibilities.
When you are relaxing at home, then instead of watching any normal program, film or serie, you should try and look for something that is available to watch in original version and with english subtitles.

Nowadays we can use two fantastic apps to practice your English, one of them is whatsapp, you should send voice messages, instead of written messages.
Another good app to practice is Sky, if you know people that they feel interest to speak English or your own classmates,you could share the experience and improve your English spoken.
These're two easy y commun apps that they can help you a lot.

Nowadays, there are pubs where one day per week people can go and exchange conversations with other people in English. I think is a good way to make new friends, spent a great time and practice English. I´ve tried it and it is highly recommendable…
Another option would be if you sign up on a social network where people connect with English speakers to chat with each other to practice speaking, load writings to be corrected by other native language speakers and so on…

Practising English outside class is really complicated for me because nobody in my family speaks it, except my nieces but they never have time so, if I want to practise it, I'll have to use other methods.
For instance, I've gone to pubs or places where the most people speak English however, I remember perfectly the first time I went. It was horrible, in fact, when a man asked me what time it was,, I wished the earth would swallow me up in that moment.
Since then, I've been feeling more self-confident every day and this is a tip which recomend to improve your fluence. Another one could be watching series or films on TV in original version, in this way you'll listen details such as pronunciation, intonation...things like that.

I'm Noelia and I'd like to tell you my personal experience related to practising English outside class. I've tried three ways:
- speaking with the classmate who was going to do the dialogue with me in the exam (Claudia ;-) I love you). It was really productive because these meetings let us to know each other, our strenghs and weaknesses. We could prepare vocabulary, informal expressions, phrasal verbs..together.
- speaking in a group of six students with a private teacher. It was really interesting because the teacher gave us vocabulary related to the exam topics and corrected us in a constructive way. The worse was that these classes were expensive.
- speaking with classmates, who are friends now, without supervision. It was helpful for shy people because the didn't feel uncomfortable but we were doubting if we were right or wrong all the time.

I´m Angeles and, as many of you, I find so difficult to practice English outside class. I´m always running from here to there but, in spite of the fact that we live in a busy life, I´m sure that everybody can find time to practice.

There are some tips that I hope you´ll be able to follow easily.

Make the most of everything in your daily routine to learn English, for example, you would change your apps (pc, tablet, movil....) into English. Listening to music and singing in English is a good way to learn English, not only to train your ear but also to practice your pronunciation. If you enjoy cooking, you would read English recipes to make new dishes.....

It would be also a good idea to watch films or tv series in English while you are lay down on the sofa (with subtitles or not). This gives you a lot of useful practise and it´s fun at the same time. I do it when everybody at home is sleeping.

If you are that kind of people who find really frustrating learning English vocabulary, one useful method is to write down each new word or phrase on a separate piece of paper and stick them around your room or anywhere you can see them. You will see the words every day and you´ll soon learn them, and of course, make sure you include new words in your next composition or conversation.

As you can see, there are a lot of things you are able to do in English without wasting time.

There are no excuses to learn English!!

Instead, in the university you have a lot of teachers who dont speak spanish because they come from others countries and you have to talk and speak to them in english, you havent got another way to comunicate!!!.

My name´s Alfredo and on this occasion I´d like to share with you my personal experience about practicing English outside class.
Nowadays, many of us have very busy lives which makes it even more difficult to find the time to practice English outside class, but if we study in which we spend time, we´ll always find occasions to practice English.
In my case, when I go and come back from work, I take the trip to listen to English songs, and I try to understand what I'm listening to. After a while, I notice that it is becoming easier for me to understand what I hear.
In my work, I´ve to read and write a lot of technical documentation frequently, which helps me so much to practice these skills.
As a rule in the afternoons, I spend the enough time to do my homework, and afterwards I search for videos in English on the internet about topics that I like.
On weekends in the afternoon, I spend at least an hour to watch sitcoms on the internet and I listen and repeat what I´m listening, trying to pronounce in the same way. It´s fun and you´ve a good time and in addition you learn to pronounce.
If you want to have a good time while improving your pronunciation, I recommend the following website http://www.ted.com. In it you can find many videos with scripts in which people share ideas.
Another tip I can give you is to download podcasts from the internet. I usually download them on my mobile phone from the link http://www.bbc.co.uk and when I´ve occasion I listen to them.
Another tip I can give you is, when possible try to think in English what you normally think in Spanish.

I'd like to share with you how I think we can improve our English out of class. Fortunately, I use English at work, with people that come to the Gallery -where I work-, reading newsletter daily, etc. However, it is difficult for me understand when s.o. call by phone, particularly from USA. I've though that I have a hearing problem!
I've had several teachers that were agree in one thing: our progress depend on the contact that we have with the language everyday. So, I listen podcats during my way to work and try to watch films, listen news and read as much as possible. From my point of view practicing speaking is more difficult because I have a busy work schedule. Even though, I'll try to train with my sister, that luckily, this year is in the same class as me.

When I was a child I studied French and I started to learn English five years ago.
At the beginning, learning English was easy, I learnt gramar and vocabulary but after this, I had to start to speak a lot.
In my personal opinión, it’s really important to improve English language to practice the four skills, speaking, listening, reading and writting, but that isn’t easy since I live in Spain and people don’t speak English. So that I have to find things to improve my English for example, listening some sings, some documentaries in English and whatch films in English language with subtitles. I recomend that because you hear the pronunciation and you can use this for the pronuntiation and practice listening exam.
To improve in writting exam, we need somepleople revise our mistakes and to speak we need other people who speak in English, to me that is more difficult, I try to speak with my kids and in class with my classmattes, I can’t do more because I don’t have enough time.
