How accessible - or inaccessible are the menu boards? What accessible standards do the boards follow - or don't follow?

According to the RGD accessibility guide, digital signage text should facilitate maximum readability and legibility, with large and clear letters measuring ⅝ to 2 inches in height and a maximum of 12 points in width. The text should also use approved fonts, including Times New Roman, Calibri, and Helvetica. The digital menu board for Booster Juice, displays adequate legibility and medioce readability in certain areas especially with the calories.

Describe the typefaces used – WHY do you think these were chosen? Is there variety? What type hierarchy exists? Are they easy to read?

Booster Juice uses two primary type faces for their brand. For their titles on their menu boards they use FF Mark (Modified) to make them more approachable and easy to read for the menu Head and Subhead also included in bold on some boards. The second type face they use is Gotham Rounded for the descriptions of each item on the menu.

I think each type face was chosen because they're easily legible, there is no struggle on reading them other then the size of the type on the board because they're put so far away from you. There is hierarchy in each menu board, the Headline is bold and prominent on the top of the board, each item is second in line also bolded but smaller then the title and of course the descriptions is the second smallest thing on the board with small font and of course legal at the bottom of the board in very small size.

There is some variety in type faces but barely any. With only having two typefaces its hards to have variety, the head and sub head and a serif block font and the descriptions are a rounded sans serif font, they have two different sides of type faces so there is minimum variety.

These font's are easy to read, but the only difficulty to read the description of the items is the size of the type, if it was increased their would be no issues with legibility.

On a regular Booster Juice Menu Board there are 3 screen's with every menu item on them, on each screen alone their is approximately 3 - 10 items per board depending on which board it is for example. On the Classics and Spirit board there are 12 items listed, on the Refresh and High Protein board there are 8 items listed, on the Superfood and Superfood+ board there are 10 items listed, on the Fresh juices board there are 8 items listed, On the Booster Blends & Balls are 3 items listed and last but finally not least MAKE IT SUPER board only has 4 ingredients on the board.

What other design elements exist to direct customers to specific items on the menu?

There are 7 Elements of Design Lines, shapes, forms, space, colors, values, and textures, And out of the elements of design the only real elements that directs customers to a specific items are color, each item on the menu board is a dark purple which is catching to the eye with a white background and black small description text. There no shapes, lines, forms, space, value or textures to direct customers to items on the menu. The menu is extremely simple which on some menus is good to see but i feel like this menu needs a little but more elements for the menu to catch the eye of customers better and to be more legible. Space is also incorporated in the menu board but in a negative way, their is too much space to be able to direct items on the menu.

Motion is incorporated through the changing screens, almost like a powerpoint presentation. Timing, spacing and rhythm is one of the principles of motion used; along with the subtle use of anticipation with the way the menu boards kind of drop down and blend over the other. Ease is also used as a simple transition. There is about a 14-15 second gap between each.
