         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong> </strong>Born on September 18th 53 CE Marcus Ulpius Traianus known as Trajan was the Roman emperor from 98 to 117 CE. His childhood consisted of various military headquarter due to his father’s work. His father’s work would soon influence him in serving in the ranks. After the death of his father, he had been adopted by Nerva, an emperor. Trajan is known as soldier-emperor due to his years of experience. When Trajan became emperor, it was during the five good emperors period. These were five individuals who maintained peace within their borders and built extraordinary projects. Trajan expanded the Roman Empire to its farthest boundaries, making him the only emperor to acquire that much land. In 116 AD, Jewish revolts had forced Trajan to flee to back to Rome, he fell ill and died in August 8, 117 in Turkey.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div> Trajan established monthly distributions of food and money called alimenta. He made sure that all of Italy’s poor was fed <strong>(Sizgorich). </strong>The act of establishing monthly payments and food emphasizes how much Trajan cared for his people. Alimenta provided food and money to the poor. At this time, a majority of the  Roman people were poor due to fall of the Roman Republic. This is important because Trajan made sure that his people were fed.</div>]]></description>

He then took Ctesiphon, Parthia, and the whole Mesopotamia (present day Iraq.)<strong> (Sommer).</strong> Like many other ancient empires expanding borders showed the true strength of a leader. The expansion of the Roman Empire provided an access for new trade routes.</div><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>After the Dacian wars, Trajan wanted to celebrate his accomplishments, so he made the Column of Trajan. The Column had friezes of the scenes from the Dacian wars. The column was designed by Apollodorus of Damascus, who was known as one of the best Roman Architect. These columns were placed outside of courtrooms, libraries etc, purposeful placed in public settings so that all of Rome would acknowledge the great achievements of Trajan. These columns placed Trajan's infrastructure on the map.</div>]]></description>
