Although it is fairly new, MOOC is starting to be offered in high school to students who wish to take classes that are not offered within their schools. Students are given high school credit upon completion of the course, but receive no grade. It also appears on their transcript. My only experience with a MOOC is the course that I am currently enrolled in through Coursera. It is very easy to navigate and the pacing is adequate. It provides plenty of information that I know is reliable since the presenter is a professor.
