This helps students understand that many of them face the same challenges and it also fosters a sense of empathy.
In Physical Education teaching games from around the world can be added into the curriculum. For example rugby, soccer, ancient games from civilizations like the Mayans and Aztecs who had a game similar to soccer.
In Math students can learn about the metric system and how to convert different measurements. It can be prefaced with why the United States uses the a hybrid version of this measuring system.
In History class students can learn about other global issues such as the Islamic Revolution, Communism, and the effects of different government systems.

Adapt teaching practices based on the needs of the students. Determine whether they are collective or individual learners.
Adding the culture of students to lessons in order to establish a deeper connection. For example, using dishes from their culture to teach about measurements and share experiences of how each student helps with cooking at home.
Determine the language that represents students and try to integrate it into lessons.
Be culturally aware of slang and social cues that students in your classroom are used to or use at home.

Use gender neutral language and make sure to pronounce names correctly. If you can’t then asking is always the best bet.
