Consumption includes the activities of the consumer to purchase and use goods and services. Since the concept of consumption means that a human being is a biological and social entity, it means purchasing goods and services to meet the needs arising from these characteristics, every person is a consumer. Mankind starts consumption from childhood and continues for life. Along with the changing world, our consumption needs also experienced a great change. In fact, this is such a big change and increase in consumption that there are people who call this age as the age of consumption.
In modern society, capitalism has revealed the image of a child as a consumer with neoliberal policies and globalization. Television and internet content educates and directs children about consumption, to purchase them continuously and to be a good consumer.

The media age is an information age where communication technologies are developed, a digital age, a post-industrial post-modern era. While media covers the technological tools that realize the phenomenon of mass communication, when it comes to media, the tools that carry out communication such as television, internet, mobile phones, newspapers, radios and magazines come to mind. Communication institutions that form policies and transform this into capital through the problems of everyday life and the interests of the target audience have a strong influence on the behavior, emotions, perceptions and orientations of individuals of all ages.

The Place Of The Child İn Consumption

In recent years, many brands seem to have accelerated their marketing activities for children in order to increase their sales in the short and long term. Even brands whose primary target group is not children are turning to children to invest in the future and trying to settle in children's minds. Some brands, who want to guarantee their present and future existence, start their marketing strategies for children from the time of the mother's womb. This mass, which is set up to linger in front of the TV from the moment it is born, is exposed to the messages of many brands, consciously or unconsciously, and begins to establish relationships with these brands from a young age. An ordinary child watches TV from the age of 6 to 18 for 4 hours. The fact that children are TV viewers from an early age makes them an important potential target audience. An adolescent is exposed to mass media for an average of 7 hours a day. This means that; individuals are seriously the target of the consumption economy, the global world impacts and the large consumption network.
