         <description><![CDATA[<p>Four churches dotted around France — in Burgundy, the Loire, Lyon, and atop an island off the Norman coast — offer a sense of peace and inspiration. </p><p>Abbey of Fontenay was founded in 1118 by St. Bernard of Clairvaux.</p><p>Europe was colonized religiously by the ongoing movement.</p><p>Monastic life was extremely simple and people did prayer, reading, work, and seven religious services a day.</p><p>The art of metal working was largely lost after Rome fell about 7 centuries earlier.</p><p>The Chartres Catherdral was full of stained glass art and statues of religious figures and events.</p><p>Mont St Michel has been a holy place since the year 708.</p><p>A bishop vowed to build a tribute to the Virigin Mary which would become Notre Dame.</p><p><br/></p>]]></description>
