I will always remember and cherish the way you stood at the gate every morning to greet all your students with your warm smile. You encouraged  learning outside the classroom and to follow our passion beyond bookish knowledge. You celebrated and supported us at all our school functions and made them some of the most memorable times we’ve had. 

Above all, you were so warm and loved interacting with us all. 

Thank you for being there and believing in us every step of the way and making Sanskriti a second home. You were and always will be an inspiration to us all. 

Rest in peace, Ma’am, we will miss you immensely.

As a newly admitted middle school student, I used to eagerly listen to your post-assembly address.  You not only discussed the events at school, but also shared nuggets of wisdom with your students. It shaped my thoughts about the kind of life I should aspire to have. I deeply admired how you wanted us to be good human beings rather than individuals excelling in only one sphere of life. You always emphasized the importance of compassion and humility above anything else. I hope to uphold these values in life. We will miss you.

I cannot forget your energetic ‘Good morning’ when we entered the gates of Sanskriti. You put us - the parents and the students at ease with your positivity and cheerfulness. 

 We cherish your pearls of wisdom during school assemblies. 

We recount your encouragement during our 4th grade Hindi Play on Annual Day. 

We reminisce about your warm smiles when you used to meet the Discipline Council on chilly mornings during gate duty.

 One smiles to remember your appreciation for our school play ‘Chanakya’. 

I cannot forget that smiling face day in 2010 when you asked me about the sabzi I could not beat to eat and I instantly replied Karela.   

I cannot forget that Student Council interview where your grilling questions made us nervous!

Your talks with us on the P.A system each morning during CTIP are something I will always hold dear. Your warm, motherly voice always guided us to think right and do right and connect with that peaceful, loving, joyful and complete person that lies dormant within all of us. 

I look back and realise you were moulding us in the best way - to be happy, fearless and kind. To not let the problems of life affect our commitment to be better humans, children, students and nation-builders and world changers. 

You wished for us to be nature lovers, book lovers, be full of life and cheer, develop ‘SmartSkills’ and adopt the right means to achieve the right ends. 

Thank you for all that you have given to us. 

Thank you for making Sanskriti a home away from home. 

Thank you for being you. 

You are sorely missed and dearly loved.

We hope to make you smile by being happy, thinking and feeling Sanskritians who will be changemakers.

When I was in junior school, Abha ma’am helped me get through something in a way which made me love and respect her forever. The way in which she had the patience to listen to me, understand me, and respect my opinions, even though I was a small child, was unbelievable. She made not just me, but every single student of the school feel important, valued, and gifted. You will be dearly missed by me and every other student of yours. We will forever be indebted to you for changing our lives.

 Now that I look back at my eleven years of studying at Sanskriti, I realise that I always looked forward to her speeches at the end of morning assemblies. She had such an exceptional way of appreciating the efforts of each and every student. She had a big role to play in making me who I am today. Her wise words have stayed with me, and will continue to do so.

Ma’am, you have left a mark on your students. I hope you rest in peace.

​It would be impossible to describe what Abha has meant not only for the School, but to our entire community.  Her selfless ways made her a “true hero”.

       Sanskriti’s unique culture and traditions built up by Gowri Eashwaran, were lovingly maintained and enhanced by Abha. She continued to make Sanskriti School a wonderful place to work and learn.

       A perfect lady, with unending patience, and ever-willing to give “honest answers and advice”, Principalship was not merely a job to Abha, nor a stepping stone up the career ladder, Education was her life; she truly loved what she did.  

        Rarely seen without a smile on her face, it always shone brightest when she was talking about her Sanskriti children.

           She did not keep herself aloof, yet polite, but was always available to all and listened to all their woes, suggestions and criticisms, because she had a heart that embraced staff, students, parents, grandparents, School Board and even the Founders; she was a leader in the true sense.    

          I know this from personal experience.  She was not only on good terms with the then members of the Board of Governors, but never forgot the Founders and tried to include us in all functions, and even occasionally took time off from her all-consuming work schedule to have a quiet lunch with some of those connected with the School, whether past or present. Being an ardent environmentalist, she not only imbued the School and students in particular with ecology, she would lead those of us who wanted to come, to see the environmental work done by students and staff in the garden, after a meeting.

 Grandparents in particular, were always treated with a welcome, not just on Grandparents’ Day, but whenever she met them, because she was fully aware of the part they played in the upbringing of the child, specially in these times when both parents work, and reliable and good child-carers are scarce.  

         She even attended the Golden Anniversary Dinner of a grandparent and Founder, with her husband Mukul, the rock supporting her at home, and I will never forget that.

         Academics, sports, theatre apart, even the smallest problems that parents, students, or staff faced were handled by her with sensitivity and care. I remember the problems faced with Bussing –  when parents brought up their concern that there was no teacher or adult left on the bus sometimes because they would get off at a stop prior to the last one, and a child may be left alone, vulnerable to attentions by the driver and /or conductor, till her stop was reached.  She dealt with it by ensuring a roster which had either a teacher or a “Bus didi” on board by making the latters’ stops the last one.      

          I am grateful for the time we spent together and the laughter we shared, and Abha I look forward to the day we meet again.
