Impact of Various Factors.

Various factors have massive impacts on childhood development. For example, if a child is raised very religiously it will become a core part of the child's identity. They will learn discipline and fear of doing wrong to avoid divine punishment. This can cause the child to develop a morality system at a young age and think of deep subjects such as death at a very young age. Other factors, such as sexual orientation, can also gave an affect. If a child's parents are the same sex, it changes nothing if the parents raise their child correctly. But if a child is taught to not accept queer people it can lead to the child learning that hate is an acceptable thing and they might grow to become prejudice towards other types of people.

Implicit Biases and Cultural Competence

Implicit Bias is stereotyping and assumptions within ones head that are not a conscious decision and happen naturally. For example if you feel safer walking with a white person over a black person for no particular reason, then that is implicit bias. Cultural competence is the understanding and acceptance of many different cultures other than your own. For example, understanding the difference between muslim beliefs and christian beliefs can be crucial to providing food for a diverse group as muslims do not eat pork.

Impact of Implicit Bias on Teacher Perceptions

Implicit bias can be a horrible thing for teachers. If a teacher has an implicit bias, they may not give enough attention to one student or just write them off as a lost cause and not worth their time. Students won't trust their teacher if they can sense this bias and won't be motivated to learn and keep their grades up if they feel their is no point since their teacher won't help them enough or makes them feel bad for needing help.
