This activity was called Cougar Code. In this class the teacher already had the Cougar Code displayed which is their PBIS expectations of "Be Safe", "Be Respectful", and "Be Responsible". The teacher had students collaborate on her Smartboard and give examples of what it means to "Be Safe", "Be Respectful", and "Be Responsible". After this she had students storyboard by filling out graphic organizers. After the students had a visual of sense of how to demonstrate the expectations, the teacher had them use an already familiar app, PicCollage to visually demonstrate what the code of conduct looks like. The students collaborated in small groups by taking pictures around the school to show what it looks like to follow the code of conduct. They uploaded their pictures into the app to represent their work.

This is an active learning activity by the teacher replacing lecturing and just telling the students what is expected of them with an interactive activity where the students collaborate with each other to produce a representation of the code of conduct. Students are fully engaged, they work together, they're thinking, and creating a piece that represents their knowledge and representation of a specific topic.

Most schools have large LED TV's displaying school information, it would be great to incorporate the PicCollage into that electronically displayed information.

Print out some of the PicCollage pieces to display within the classroom and school.

Have some of the students present their PicCollage pieces at a schoolwide assembly.
