For me one of the main reasons to become a nurse is helping needy people, also be a emotionally support for them through the illness. I think the nurses are the base line of the health-care. Nurses guide the patients through the illness journey and they are always there for them. I must say, it’s not a easy profession, but the gratification is huge and make you keep going. To be honest I didn’t planned to be a nurse, everything came along when I started this university. At start i’didn’t know what to do after high school so I signed up to this university pushed by my interest in medicine. During my first day in the hospital I fell in love with nursing , I remember watching the nurses doing their things with such a passion and sake which impressed me a lot, also the bond between the nurses and their patients inspired me to keep going with this profession. I thing with nursing I find the right amount of sciences and human contact.

This article is a qualitative study which recruited nurses involved in hospital and/or territorial care in Italy. The focus of the study is to explore the compassion in the experience of nurses engaged in the covid-19 pandemic. The autors define compassion as a feeling for which a persone emotionally feels the suffering of others with the wishing to alleviate it. Moreover the study underline that the compassion is the most precious asset of nursing coming from a genuine bond between nurse and patient. The covid-19's pandemic became no longer just a health emergency, but a real relational emergency, in which the nurses played a key role because they were the single contact for the patients. This situation often forced the nurses to live the same conditions of isolation and loneliness as the patients. This situation caused severe emotional and psychological fatigue which resulted in an increase in anxiety, stress also in depressive symptoms. The study concludes the fundamental importance of the compassion expressed by nurses in the relationship of care with the patients suffering from covid-19, as well as the need to support professionals in the compassionate relationship.

I hope in the future to be able to work in the pediatric hospital bambino Gesu because it’s where I’ve done all my clinic practices. My goal is to work in hospitals and treat the acute situations, but I wouldn’t mind, in the future, working also in private clinics. I’d love to work in a ICU(intensive care unit), but I know it’s a tough setting and it require brilliant nursing and medical knowledge. Icu units require also masters degree which you can get after the bachelor’s degree. I’m sure that I want to achieve icu’s master degree, but I’m also quite sure that I’don’t want to stop there. I don’t know what the future may holds for me, but my goal is to increase my knowledge and my experiences to be a better nurse.
